Just like to amend an old statement above: ExxonMobil (Esso) now only assist with the specification and QC of Tesco fuel, final blending & supply is via 3rd party wholesalers in common with the majority of UK fuel retailers. The old links between exploration, drilling, refining, distribution & retailing no longer exist. The vast majority of the UK forecourts are run as brand licensees using the same imported petrol, it's only the final additive mix at one stage before tanker fill that may vary and even this is subject to greater regional/seasonal variation than between brands.
