(the HR-V has a reasonably strong boot floor but has the silly failing of the spare wheel well being not quite deep enough for a full-sized wheel. Nor does it currently have a hole for a fixing bolt although I understand that Honda is addressing that lesser issue).
The Civic has the same problem, wheel-well not big enough for a full sized spare (deep enough but not long enough from front to back), although it does have space for spacesaver and the bolting down bracket is there at least.
Will autonomous cars need a spare wheel - and what will they do if they get a puncture (pull-over and put hazards on and send n automated 'help-me message to Google ) - discuss !! (my bet is that they will be fitted with foam filled / run-flat tyres).
