Wind noise
« on: September 26, 2015, 07:14:07 PM »
Generally satisfied with the ride and performance BUT I am getting lots of wind noise across the front windscreen which is very intrusive and  totally destroying my enjoyment  of driving .Only had this car for a week !
Have had my dealer out for a test drive who have confirmed the excessive wind noise ,we also test drove another Jazz 2015 model same problem -- this wind noise is more prevelant above 50mph -now waiting to see what Honda UK come up with
Anyone else experienced this wind noise problem , I would appreciate there comments

I've not noticed this problem but haven't yet driven under very windy conditions. Road surface noise is the dominant aural intrusion when travelling at speed (concrete surfaces are noisy, as with the previous Jazz). Sound proofing seems to be no better, and may be slightly worse, than on the previous Jazz which may be why you are noticing the wind noise. We seem to be encountering some issues which shouldn't occur given that the rest of the world has had time to debug this vehicle. Unless, of course, Honda has made some tweaks (like leaving off some soundproofing) in order to get lower CO2 numbers for the European market.

However, on a related subject I felt that the wind noise arising from having the front windows an inch or two open for some natural ventilation is noticeably less than on the previous model.

On some cars the door mirrors contribute to a lot of turbulance resulting in wind noise, may be worth trying folding in the mirrors when you get above 50mph and see if the wind noise reduces, obviously not a permanent solution but worth a try.

Thank you for responses so far
Wind noise is still there even when outside weather is calm
I did suspect the wing mirrors as they are rather large ,but have folded them when travelling ,no effect unfortunately ,so not wing mirrors.
As I have said it is only really annoying when speed exceeds 50mph --I am beginning to think whether it is the channels either side of the windscreen is generating turbulence as the previous Jazz models have flush windscreen and do not have wind noise of this kind .
Hopefully Honda UK will come up with a resolution

During my test drive on a Mk3 CVT Jazz yesterday, I can confirm that I experienced wind noise when driving on a motorway and a dual carriageway at speeds approaching 60 mph and above.  The weather was calm.

A few years ago, during a test drive of a Mk2 CVT Jazz, I also experienced wind noise at similar speeds.

However, I don't experience any wind noise on my Mk1 CVT Jazz.
