Hey. I bought pre-version 3 years ago and never install it.
If you ask me it looks better as the version before and it seems  it is better designed (also better fixing) but I would go for original now. Honda's quality is much better and it is attached hard to the center console, not only upper plastic.

Hi I'm thinking of getting a centre console arm rest for my Hybrid HS. I'm not sure that the existing drivers arm rest (which will need to be removed) is an easy job or leave an unsightly hole in the seat.

Has anybody got any experience of this and can advise or is it a No, No?

dfconnolly, the armrest is the Original from honda it comes with a plasic cover when you remove the original armrest.
It's not a difficult job to do.

Here is an armrest installed on a LHD car.

My big tip for this installation is to cover the carpet holes when you are removing the screws to replace the metal part for the new armrest Support. Because if the screws fall out inside the carpet, it'll be a pain to recover them.

See on this picture. Where it says "Vedar com fita crepe" reads  "Seal with masking tape".

I have an EX which comes with this centre console arm rest - I like it and
use it most of the time - on the motorways I slide it forwards (the top can slide back and forth)
so I am supported more. In town I keep it back so it is easier to get to the Handbrake
However
My wife finds it as much use as a Chocolate teapot as she is shorter and has the seat further
forward and so the arm rest is too far back for her arms - an 'on seat' arm rest would therfor suit
her better

I have the Honda armrest/storage box for the GD model and find it extremely useful for storing my iPod (I run the cable between the passenger seat and the centre console and into the armrest under the lid) and other bits in pieces.

Oh - for me it's perfect and I love having that little bit of storage right there!   8)

Thanks for all repies on the armrest.

I managed to purchase a Honda "pelican"one at trade price £158.95 (including VAT) Part Number: - 08U89TF0611.

This is very substantial with metal to metal bracket fittings.

There is a You tube video detailing fittinf:-

It's a but fiddly - takes about 1 hour but is woth the effort, appears moresolid tahn Armster...................pays your money & takes your choice.

I bought this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330661256450?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

for £45 the lid slides forward, has storage is height adjustable and tilts up out of the way.  it was fitted in 10 minutes and is fairly steady.  Id say 8/10. Ive no doubt its not as steady at the Honda OEM, but then again its only 1/3 of the price.  I'm pleased with the quality, it doesn't look cheap and is cracking value for money.
Id definitely recommend it  :D
