Hey all. This has been a great thread to read
I've decided to keep my GK3 a bit longer, and have been considering replacing the OEM HU.
I have been looking at the Joying system, and I am seriously considering this. But one thing that struck me, and I haven't seen any mention of it, is that, would I lose the CD player?
If so, would there be any other alternatives worth looking into, where I can still keep the CD player?
I don't use it much, but its nice to have that option if need be...

CD's can be dangerous if the the driver is tempted to change one whilst driving , and are easily scratched  by handling or deteriorate in a hot car.   I used to make  RW discs for use in the car  but have recently thrown a lot of those away.   I dont miss the CD player at all.

Better I think to accept that few new cars or replacement head units now come with a cd player  and digitise your CD collection.   With the advantage of being able to make compilations, search menus  and omit those tracks you never listen to.

I have plans to update my home  computers, devices and music players soon. I realised I  would no longer have anything able to play my collection of original CD's ,unless I still  keep some obsolete equipment.
I recently found a VHS tape of family events and some old audio cassettes I have not been equipped to play  for many years.  ;D

Although no longer owning a GK I was very pleased with the Joying unit that I fitted , as regards the CD player I’d agree with Lord V and forget about it, having a moving mechanism makes it the most likely part to go wrong and they are very heavy and cumbersome.
I’m not sure there are any new units available these days with a CD player included.

Try and find a unit that accepts a USB stick, far more reliable
Let's be careful out there !

I find it faster than carplay.
I just prefer using the head unit, it seems to make more sense to me. Can still skip radio channels and everything via the steering wheel controls. Make and take calls etc via Bluetooth.
As it's basically an android tablet everything updates itself, and tbh there is loads of storage space left memory wise.

Anyhow I added some images if anyone is interested. And if anyone is wondering if they should buy or not, it's a definite yes.
And don't worry that address in the weather widget isn't near my house  :o

shouldnt there be an airbag warning light parallel with the hazard button?

how would that work without one?

I've just ordered the Joying, and also concerned about the airbag warning light!

Joying says: "If your vehicle is equipped with an SRS warning light, it may need to be connected and placed on the back of the panel during installation"

Has anyone had this issue and found a solution? I thought they might produce an updated model similar to their LHD one, but they say: "As for future production, we’re afraid it is not confirmed yet whether such a model will be developed." which sounds unlikely I guess

Just leave it connected & drop it inside the dash, the main airbag light is within the instrument cluster, this is just a passenger airbag light for information & is not a warning light as such.
