Trip meter reset
« on: June 27, 2025, 06:32:44 PM »
In settings I  have trip meters set at A reset at fill up auto and B manual reset,
sometimes A will zero at full tank and sometimes not, just wondering if anyone
else has noticed this, not to fussed about it but just wondered, I've always switched
off engine when filling up and its worked and not worked don't think I've ever
locked car when filling up but now wondering if that would make any difference or
not with it already sometimes working.
I forgot what I came to forget.

You need to fill at least some minimum amount before the computer will notice. I think it is about 5 liters or more. It detects change in the fuel level, not  the opening and closing of the cap.

Agreed. I've also noticed the following: When the tank is empty (when Jazz shows 0 out of 10 bars of fuel left, and estimates the remaining range as 0 km), you need to fill at least 7 liters of fuel, before the Jazz notices it and updates the bars and the remaining range.

I ususally fill to the top and found the reset only to work reliably when topping up from 7 or less segments left on the fuel gauge.

The detection of fuel put in has always been an issue with Honda models with magic seats

The very flat under front seats tank is the issue

Seen loads of similar posts on the Civic 8G forums
Let's be careful out there !

I had a  civic loan car.  On collection it showed about 120 miles remaining range, and I planned to do about 60 miles . But,as they do ,the remaining range dropped  rapidly towards the end  so I added 5 litres (about what I'd used) rather than return the car with 0 range.   But it did not register.
On return the car showed only  5 miles range  remaining even though I knew there must be at least 'my' 5 litres  in the  tank plus probably a further 5 litres or so.  .

A)How many more users will unecessarily add 5 litres to this same car before it finally registers an accurate fuel capacity/remaining range?   B) how many car hire customers  will be charged  a penalty  for apparently returning the car with less fuel despite topping it up.

(Sorry , I tend to overthink things then write long posts about it  :-[ , )

I normally fill the tank on the Jazz   , but I once only added 5 litres ,which  didnt register. This was a foreign filling station, where the pumps were so poorly marked  I had started pumping before  I realised I was getting an unnecessary super  premium grade ,at a MUCH  higher price than expected.  I suspect the station were  taking advantage of unwary customers . A tankful would have cost several £££'s more so I  only bought 5 litres  .   :P
My IQ test came back negative

Ours also works fine. I have to say that we normally only fill up when the tank is quite empty (1/4 or less) and as a rule always until the pump stops for the second time.
Never seen a reason to and/or tried to fill up with 5 liters or less...
If nothing goes right, go left!

I had the same issue with the courtesy car during the last maintenance of my Jazz:
They have a policy of returning the cars freshly fueled. However, the little fuel I was able to fill didn't register on the gauge.
This is why I always get a (dated and time-stamped) receipt from the fueling station and hand it over together with the car.
