Dash Cam Installation
« on: March 30, 2025, 05:17:59 PM »
Hi All.
I am attempting to fit a rear Dashcam to my mk4 2022 UK Jazz.
I have gotten the camera lead from the High Level Brake light through to the rubber boot that connects the wiring loom from the tailgate to the body.
I cannot find anyway to then take the lead from the rubber boot to inside the car. I have used glass fibre rods & a nylon pull wire. I can feed in at least two metrs of the nylon pull wire into the car but cannot see it anywhere. It is either going in a box channel above the door or below into the door sill I think. I can't find where the wiring loom enters the car.
Any Ideas would be very much appriciated.
Cheers,
Ray

I cant help  with the rubber boot grommet route . (maybe Wallace's Gromit would know  ;D

But a possible alternative would to route  the wire  inside the the boot seal itself.   The large spongey section that makes the seal is hollow, and I think it even has air holes. a small slit for the wire to enter and emerge again  about halfway down the  side of the boot   to coincide with where the side lining inside the boot has a join between hard plastic and moulded carpet type material.  . (The boot light is in this zone )   By slipping the wire into this joint its  gives opportunities of routing the wire forwards under carpets, under and between seats etc  . If your car has rear USB power points you could possibly terminate here using one to power the dashcam.
My IQ test came back negative

Thankyou for the reply.
I have used an endoscope to try and see where the loom is routed without any succes.
So, I have routed the cable via the headliner taking care around airbags & looped the cable out of the tailgate seal & onto the rear windscreen. Not as neat as I would have liked, but it has done the job.
Cheers.
