Back in Scotland and second service
« on: November 15, 2024, 05:15:17 PM »
Great to be home after three years torture in too high humidy living in a green desert.
Second service today, mileage 3,828. I’m on five year service plan and I asked for sat nav update. They wanted £55 so declined. Advised air conditioning system service at next service. Advised fuel treatment. At least they washed the car.

Price of new cars ridiculous.

I live in the North-West, and for my first service I contacted my nearest Honda dealership.

They too, wanted £40 for the map update, so I also declined.

I then contacted my second nearest Honda dealership, who said they would update the map free of charge, but I would need to leave the car with them for a minimum of half a day.

So they have got servicing of my vehicle, on my five year plan, with that bit of goodwill.

If you don’t ask, you don’t get!

I was also offered the aircon clean but at £99 found it a bit expensive, especially as you can get an 'aircon bomb' for a fraction of that

They tried to persuade me by telling me the Aircon 'infection' was off the scale

I've had Aircon since about 1998 without any health issues so considered it the latest 'diamondbrite' cashcow
Let's be careful out there !

All these are Tryon's to extract profit from the service. Also included are advisory tyres , skimming brake discs and rear wiper blades.

Around here cars over 5 years are turned away or given weeks before being booked in for work.
Main stealers no longer employ mechanics that's why you need to find an independent garage who appreciate customers and fullfil the service schedule.
