In the manual there is a way to program the car so that turning off the power automatically applies the handbrake - but it's quite a complicated procedure of presses to set up I think.

Mine is set like that, as soon as I release the seatbelt the handbrake comes on and it suits me fine.

Its having brake hold on that causes that automatic operation of the parking brake.

If you do set auto parking brake I presume you can override it should you need a tow with only front wheels lifted.

If you need to temporarily deactivate the feature for when having your vehicle
towed. You can follow the procedure explained below.
1. Depress the brake pedal and bring the vehicle to a stop.
2. Set the power mode to OFF and then within 2 seconds push down the electric
parking brake switch.
> Activation and deactivation settings for the feature will not be affected.
> Before temporarily deactivating the feature, make sure to first turn off the
automatic brake hold system.
> To confirm that the parking brake is applied, check if the parking brake and
brake system indicator (red) is on.

Thanks, but, should you be in the unfortunate position of needing an unplanned tow you probably won't have this info to hand. Just my thought.
Let's be careful out there !

Think I’ve found the issue.

With the car in park you can rest your finger on the trigger.

Pressing the brake, you can feel a click in the gear lever as it unlocks.

But it won’t actually unlock if you press/hold the trigger before you press the brake.

You need to be pressing the brake before you touch the trigger.

Thanks Sportse. Quite correct. Tried it and problem over!
