Bluetooth
« on: July 19, 2021, 09:05:30 PM »
Just drove my new  EX jazz out of the showroom, did about 60 miles to get the feel of it.
Must say, it dives really well, far far better than the mark3 I traded in.

I have just tried to connect my iPhone to the Honda HFT thing, my phone doesn't recognise it, although I have the apple car play, but not the HFT, anyone any ideas on this?.

Thanks

According to the manual, the iPhone cannot be connected via HFT Bluetooth whilst it is connected via CarPlay but another phone can be connected via HFT Bluetooth at the same time as the iPhone is connected via Carplay

The same with Android Auto: it takes over from the HFT function.

What does this mean with regard to the functionality of the Android Auto connected phone while driving? Can you still make and receive phone calls - how do you see the Contact list on the phone to place a call - does it come up on the car screen. Welcome some clarification for those who have used this function - thanks

Yes, you can make and receive calls, and the audio still goes via Bluetooth. It will pause any audio playback whilst you're on a call. The contact list does show up on the screen, too.

You can also set shortcut icons in Android Auto for contacts you are likely to call.

I haven’t used Android auto but think it functions differently than Apple CarPlay, in that music and certain apps, such as Google maps, are sent via USB and hands free telephone access, including contacts list, are sent via Honda HFT Bluetooth.
This prevents the Bluetooth HFT connection being available for another phone.
With Apple CarPlay, USB or wireless is used for all functionality, which frees up the Honda HFT Bluetooth for use by another phone.

I have tried to got my  android phone woking via Bluetooth. If I connect my wife's android 7 phone to my honda Jazz it works very well. But it uses Bluetooth 4.1. My phone is android 10 and uses Bluetooth 5.1 it connects to the car ok and downloads the contacts. But when I try to use it says not connected. Any thought?
The phone worked fine in my previous car although it was 6 years old.

When I picked up my Mk4 about 3 months ago, my salesgirl did all the setup for me, so not really sure of the details.
All I know is it uses Apple CarPlay with my IPhone 11 rather than Honda HFT.
