Honda Jazz 2004
« on: September 15, 2008, 02:35:02 PM »
Hi Everybody

I have just bought an 04 Jazz automatic CVT and I have a few problems.
Firstly, I seem to be only getting 25 mpg in town, when I suppose I should be getting a lot more.
Secondly, the cigarette lighter socket doesn't work at all and the fuse looks fine.

Any ideas please let me know.

Thanks :)

25 mpg ....something is radically wrong . I have an 05 Jazz CVT and average 42-44 mpg .I would propose a Diagnostics check... could even be something as simple as a blocked air filter or wrong tyre pressures.....perhaps even some of the Engine settings...such as mixture altered by a Garage Mechanic who did not know enough abou Hondas  .....or any one of a dozen other guesses.....the Diagnostic should pick it up quite easily.
Regarding the Cigarette Lighter if you are confident the fuse is OK , the most other likely causes would be :
1 ) Faulty Cigarette SOCKET ....not uncommon on a lot of Cars
2 ) Faulty cable connection at the back of the Cigarette Socket
Usually caused as a result of someone using it to plug in their Mobile Phone or Sat Nav.
If it's going in for a Dagnostic check it would be a simple matter for the Cigarette Socket to be checked out whilst there .
