Honda Jazz Mk3 2015-2020 / Re: Side Mirror Repeater Replacement

One final thought. A Honda repeater unit costs a bit under £200. For a plastic shell, two LEDS and two resistors. A third party unit on ebay costs less than £20.

Honda Jazz Mk2 2008-2015 / Re: Oil Intervals

I agree. With modern  engine oils  6250 mile oil changes are only really necessary if the engine works under particularly harsh conditions. EG very hot or very cold climates ,frequently very dusty, or if the engine has to work exceptionally hard . Eg 'enthusiastic 'driving, or towing a heavy trailer up mountain passes.
Honda UK normally specify 12500 by default while in some european countries where its possible some  owners might encounter high mountains, dusty roads and extremes of weather  Honda err on the  side of caution with more frequent oil changes for everyone. (With the bonus of more servicing income for the local dealerships)

Only driving short journeys where the engine rarely gets fully hot is also considered harsh conditions  .This is because cold oil doesnt circulate as well, and  cold engines produce a lot of water vapour which may not get hot enough to evaporate, possibly contaminating the oil.    But this is kind of self regulating.  If you do more than  6250 miles in 12 months the engine probably gets hot  often enough to last more miles.  But stick to the 12 month rule (or more frequently if you do more than 12500 miles per year ) .  Avoid things like   only getting the oil changed every 2 years because you only do 3000 miles  year etc.   ( But if service records show a previous owner did this its not the end of the world.  ;)  )
Its also important to change the CVT  'gearbox' oil/fluid  at the correct intervals, And make sure the correct specification of CVT oil  for your car is used.  Many people recommend using genuine Honda cvt fluid , but I think even Honda sell  at least two different specifications.  Other brands can cause problems.

Looking bad for Honda then, if they are going to give up on the future! I think an electric Jazz might sell well but looks like it's not going to happen,  they are just gonna stick with the hybrid. Maybe just an upgrade of the Mk4 Jazz, not a Mk5.

Personally I aim for 12k miles or annually.  6K miles sounds more appropriate for places where there is high levels of dust and dirt, i.e. not the UK.

I do think Honda has missed an opportunity with the Crosstar. As well as raising the ground clearance a bit they have added roof bars and plastic body styling  etc  to  make it more like an SUV. To perhaps appeal more to younger buyers.     But they have had to drop some useful specifications  to keep the price down compared to other SUV's on the market.

Fair enough wanting to attract more  buyers from younger generations.  But in the UK at least  the Jazz is popular with older drivers  (for good reasons  )  My dealership has told me they rely heavily on the sale of Jazz through the motability scheme (Government assistance for those with mobility issues and their carers)    And if this forum is anything to go by  quite a few chose the  crosstar  primarily  because the extra  ground clearance makes it slightly easier to get in and out. (every little bit helps, and not just in Tesco)

Honda should produce  an easier  access Jazz.   Fit the taller springs etc   for extra height,  keep the  traffic monitoring gismos,  but omit the expensive  roof bars and  styling stuff.    They could also fit  adjustable height passenger seat  , and maybe a slightly different seat design to make sliding in and out easier, and perhaps other subtle aids such as  extra grab handle  etc.   Discreetly marketed  as  more user friendly  but  not so over the top  and different that  younger buyers wouldnt be seen dead in one.

Most of the parts that are different are already available on the production line and wouldnt increase production cost by much.  But I suspect Honda will be more concerned about demographics. Attracting younger buyers who may remain brand loyal to Honda  for many more years.

There have been mumblings on the 'rumour vine' for some time about Honda possibly pulling out of the UK.
Mitsubishi did and very quickly realised the error of their ways and are now coming back.
With this news article below........
Is this a good time to buy a Honda??
I am considering it, so would welcome any comments.
It appears the EVs are the problem and calling in on Horizon Honda Yeovil the other day, I was amazed at the number of nearly new EV models for sale on the forecourt.
Judging by the bad reviews in the motoring press of the e:Ny1 it appears that it may be part of the problem.
Honda recorded its first annual operating loss as a publicly listed company, posting a massive ¥423 billion ($2.7 billion) net deficit. This historic 70-year bleak milestone was primarily driven by over $10 billion in restructuring charges and writedowns after the collapse of its aggressive electric vehicle (EV) strategy. Here are the key takeaways from the automaker's recent financial results:The Cause: Honda absorbed massive EV-related writedowns after demand plummeted. This was exacerbated by changing U.S. policies, such as the elimination of EV tax credits and the imposition of automotive tariffs.Scrapped EV Plans: The company officially halted multiple U.S. EV projects (including scaling back its 0 Series models), froze an $11 billion battery and EV manufacturing project in Canada, and canceled its joint EV venture with Sony.Future Strategy: Honda is officially shifting its focus back to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and expanding its hybrid lineup, with plans to introduce 15 new hybrid models by 2030.The Silver Lining: The company's historically strong motorcycle division (producing over 22 million units) and its robust finance branch helped pare down deeper losses. Honda projects a return to profitability in the coming fiscal year. For more details on the financial overhaul and strategic shifts, you can read the full coverage provided by BBC News or explore the global business analysis via Reuters./color]

I have no experience of 4th gen Jazz, and therefore I cannot compare to it. Unfortunately Jazz (or Fit) has not been available in car rental companies in those countries I have been travelling. I've driven Toyota Yaris, Corolla and Corolla Cross CVT as a rental car. Sound of the engine is noticeable, but as mentioned I was speaking about transmission behaviour and matching. Not about other features of the car, which sound level is.

Interesting. Personally I found the Jazz subjective drive smoother and quieter than the 3 pot CVT around town without putting your foot to the floor, or perhaps even with putting your foot to the floor. But talking particularly about the Yaris here, the larger Toyotas might have more sound proofing/bigger wheels etc.
