Mine went the same a couple of years ago. Took it to a garage, wasted £65 on a re-gas.  Then they found that it was the relay that supplies the signal to the magnetic clutch on the aircon compressor. Cheap fix really, in the end. Try this as your search:-

where is aircon relay on jazz 2013 petrol

Many thanks. I was pretty sure that the relay was in the fuse box under the bonnet, but couldn't work out how to open it. The search provided that info as well so I'll have a butcher's in the box before it goes dark, and swap it with a relay of similar capacity to test.

Honda Jazz Mk2 2008-2015 / Fuse/ relay for aircon
« Last post by desthemoaner on May 23, 2026, 05:17:53 PM »
The air con in my  2013 Jazz ES seems to have given up the ghost. Not a sausage when I hit the AC button on the dash: no clicks, no noise of anything running, nowt.

Repairing the thing is beyond me but I'm going to start by checking the fuse boxes to make sure its not just a blown fuse. Does anyone know offhand the location of the AC fuse/ relay? The only relevant fuse I can find in the owner's manual is marked "Heater/ Air Conditioning" but its not clear which fuse box its located in, and being marked both heater and aircon then presumably the heater wouldn't work either if the fuse had blown; and the heater is fine.

TIA

Nobody else?

Then I consider myself very unfortunate to be the only member here who owns a second gen Jazz which is afflicted--albeit only slightly--by tinworm.  ;)
Very common.  The second generation is terrible for rusting around the filler which is why I bought an import.  There is no wheel arch liner, so the salt forms a solid lump around the filler and rots the car out from the inside.  I have under sealed mine and twice a year I clean out all the accumulated grime that builds up round the filler.  Will it stop it rusting?  I doubt know, but it will certainly slow it down.  Its not the only car effected in this way.  Have a look at most VW ups or Skoda Citigos on a 13 plate.  You will find the same problem.

Hm.. I have a 2011 GG and do worry about that. Looks ok for now, means no blisters at the outside and was planning a thorough inspection this summer. So: The problem area is accessible from the outside and up in the wheel well?

Sorry for the long delay in responding. Accessible from outside, yes, but not sure about whether it can be accessed from the wheel arch. In all honesty I've kind of resigned myself to the situation and will probably change the car next year anyhow. What for, well: given the price of second hand cars, "a whole heap of debt" is probably the answer.

It doesn't work, and I wouldn't even waste your time trying the hardware is that old it struggles to run android 4.

Just save up and replace the entire unit to a joying unit. You will have full android auto, and its fast too.
All the steering wheel buttons work etc, I currently love chatting with Gemini whilst driving about and it's great being able to turn lights on at home or set heating etc straight from your car

Of course my experience in driving in UK is limited, but on those narrow roads and tight parking spaces you have in your lovely island, I would personally prefer a small car like Jazz.

And eventhough I like my 3rd gen Jazz, I would be very tempted to look after a good condition early 2nd gen Jazz, because it has less unnecessary gimmicks to fail in the long run. Or even 1st gen, which you know you like.

I now do about 20,000 miles per year and still only change it when required, if it looks dirty change it

Same with air filter I have 2. One on the car the other gets washed and used again in a twice yearly oil change. They usually last about 4-5 washes before I change them.

Tbh I don't know why more folks don't wah their air filters. Don't go crazy just rinse under the tap, then swish about in sink with a bit of washing up liquid. Then flip over and repeat.

I have done it for years and it doesn't effect the engine, all my cars do well over 150k miles before I sell them on.

I moved from a MK1 to MK3.

They are good cars but tbh id consider also pricing up something like a Toyota Corolla or Prius,  the interiors are so much better than the jazz, and are equally if not even better reliability than the jazz.

The thing which annoys me about the MK3 is the very cheap plastic interior, especially the doors etc. and the head unit is complete garbage, I spent an extra £300 and got a joying unit. Easy to fit and completely change the driving experience, it's great being able to click the talk button on the steering wheel and just chat away to Gemini etc.

So far in mine I have driven 60,000 and had 6 new tyres, changed oil twice per year, new rear pads, new front discs and pads, new sparkplugs, new Aircon condenser and pump, and oil filters, cabin filters etc.
So not too bad maintenance costs in reality, I just can't help being slightly let down the way the interiors seem to be cheap.
