Title: Jazz 2003 malfunction indicator lamp

Hello there folks
I was searching for info on the malfunction indicator lamp when I found this site.
My wifes Jazz (2003 UK car) brought up the engine shaped light yesterday.

Could you advise what this is indicating and the effects please.

Check the plug leads (from spark plugs to distiubutor) are firmly in place.

Is the car misfiring or showing any other symptons?

She has said it has been running rough on over run, I have heard this is often due to the EGR valve?
The last service didnt find any faults though

I work on my Celica but these Honda engines are the wrong way round Shocked
It didnt strike me as I was looking under the bonnet

Local stealers say EGR valve, £200 plus!
