On early Jazz a clicking noise heard when turning left in 2nd gear may be due to the reverse shift holder ball bearing being contaminated and partially seized, causing the reverse idler gear to not return to neutral. Shifting into 2nd gear causes the reverse idler gear to touch the countershaft reverse gear. This problem has been known by Honda since 2002, and resulted a stronger reverse shift holder being fitted to later models. Repairs to early Jazz may be quoted at around £730.

Thank you!
I didn`t think that could be the problem and for that price! It seems I could get a brand new gear box for that!? Do you think if I could get out the gear box I could fix it? I mean with the right tools.
I already have this problem since I bought it (didn`t notice at that time - from private seller) 4 years now, but if I can I don`t use the 2nd gear when turning left. What problem can occur in the worst case if it`s not fixed? At that time (2002) was it fixed under Honda warranty?

;) just got a 2005 55, and no problems with the box.
