Title: Replacing the Alternator Belt?
Post by: guest5168 on June 13, 2016, 11:02:48 PM
My jazz really likes to squeek when it gets rainy and cold , it's either the alternator belt or one of the rollers/pulleys ,however I remember changing the alternator belt some 4years ago on it, and it started doing it soon after that and has done ever since, I do not know if it was doing it before as i bought the car in summer when it was good weather and I changed that belt on it soon after.

So either they didn't properly installed the belt to correct tension or there is a pully problem.
Anyway I have driven like this all the time as it stops squeeking after it warms up,  but going in for a service to change few consumables and might as well change the belt , but was wondering what else I can change there while I'm at it?
I browsed what parts are available and all I could find is this tensioner pully for sale

but when checking the belt diagram there are  more than just that 1 pulley , can anyone aware me what exactly must be changed?

as it can't be only that 1 belt and that 1 pully?

btw I would not bother changing the belt Unless it wouldn't squeek soo bad that all the people on street looks back on my car because it squeeks so bad :D

one more thing, could the squeeking  also be if your AC is going out?
since it feeds from the alternator belt, and I remember last year I watched some videos how to tell which pully is making the squeeking and I think when I tested with the screwdriver method that the AC pully was the one most likely doing it.

also my AC isn't always properly working on full blast, most of the time when you press the AC button the button turns green and all works well, but from time to time when you press the AC button the button doesn't turns green- but the AC still works-however with less power and less effective, would that indicate that there is fault with the AC since the button doesn't turns green when you press it and the AC isn't as effective as when the button turns green when pressed?

could well be the bearing in tensioner idler pulley in centre of top run.  Honda guy told me only replace belt if cracks or fraying at edges and will easily do well over 100K
