hi all we have a honda jazz 1.4 sport 7 sped auto
first thing in the morning and when the engine is cold the engine is noisy sounds like old school tappit noise
once warm the noise pretty much goes away is this normal or should i be worried
the engine has gone 60000 and full service every year
are there any other issues i also should know about
thanks in advance

could be a bit of piston slap (most modern cars suffer from this) or tappets - if it goes away when warm no worries.

Iv'e had several cars that were noisier when cold. My old Rover 800 did this, especially in Winter, but was quiet a mile up the road.
Asked my mate who runs a garage and he said nothing to worry about.

A tappet adjustment is part of the Honda service schedule, but not something done in a standard interim/annual service or by one of the combined service & MOT packages that are popular. I've had mine done twice, and both times they said they were fine and I noticed no difference afterwards. Definitely audible when cold but mostly disappears in summer months. Decided not to pay for it again as it has had no effect.

car is just in garage at the moment as rear calipers seized only had the fronts done for the same issue about 2 months ago
