Title: Installing Hawk Keyless Central Locking
Post by: guest5844 on January 04, 2016, 05:22:55 PM
Hi all,
I am going to install a Hawk central locking upgrade to my wifes car. (finally, as drivers lock hasnt worked for a year)
Member DV posted an excellent post on how to connect this unit and think it should be fairly straightforward.
However, would just like confirmation of which wires to connect to at connector in side panel, unfortunately as his post was on 27th Sept 2012 his picture is no longer available. The two I mean are the lock/unlock wires  (white , white/red) refererred to in his post as there appear to be two white wires
Thanks for any help or anyone who still has pic.

Kevin

Just replied to your 'hello' post, but anyway... according to wiring diagram (13) (http://www.hondafitjazz.com/manual/A00/HTML/00/SAA2E00000000000000EBAT00i013.HTML) from http://www.hondafitjazz.com/manual.html (http://www.hondafitjazz.com/manual.html)

The two I mean are the lock/unlock wires  (white , white/red) refererred to in his post as there appear to be two white wires
The two colour wires are not really stripey, but often the main colour with a small blob of the second colour every inch or so, the two whites you have identified may well be correct if you can verify a bit more of the wire.

EDIT:
There may be two different colour schemes for the armrest switch dependent on region/model.

The wiring linked from http://www.hondafitjazz.com/body_security_keyless.html (http://www.hondafitjazz.com/body_security_keyless.html) identifies

Drivers armrest button:
White/blue from pin 3 = Unlock
White/green from pin 1 = Lock

It is also identified as below from the index at http://www.hondafitjazz.com/wiring_diagram.html (http://www.hondafitjazz.com/wiring_diagram.html)

From drivers armrest button:
White/black = Unlock
Yellow/red = Lock

All are taken momentarily to ground.

What is unambiguous are the colours identified for the key switches.

From drivers key mechanism:
White = Unlock
White/red = Lock

From passengers key mechanism:
Red = Unlock
Red/White = Lock

Thanks for help.
DV mentioned that at white connector in side panel near bonnet unfasten the unlock wire is white and the lock wire is white/red. I was hoping to use these as I can access them easily, and think I have identified them but not certain
Thanks

I think you are correct and have identified the need to tap into things logically as far upstream as you can, i.e. emulate the key or the button, rather than directly triggering the relays that power the solenoids. This way there won't be a problem with firing the locks with open or slightly ajar doors, and the car should know what state the locks are in.

On the other thread the plan is to plug in the keyless receiver unit from a higher spec car, and pair it with an old Jazz fob. It sits to the right of the under-dash fuse box against the side of the car; you might just be able to see a spare four-pin connector there, but would need to remove the panel for full access. It's four wires are 12v, acc-12v, gnd & output. I don't know what the output is, I might try it on the bench to see if it's just a 12v/ground/open, but it might be a data signal, will know more middle of next week. If it's simple then bingo - that may also be an ideal trigger wire and probably a good space & power supply for the Hawk.

Just to report that I have now fitted this using DV's method  (Thanks) and works fine.
I only connected lock and unlock as that is sufficient.
Only difficulty was connecting to wires in awkward position that are tight and with only an inch or so to play with, didn't cut them though, used snap connectors that I had hanging round.
Thanks
