My Jazz has had its 175,000 mile service today, and the garage phone to say they have started the service and found a problem . . . . . the rear wiper blade needs replacing.

Ozzie,  It's obviously time to change the car, we can't have wiper blades wearing out !

Only 175K from a wiper blade - scandalous,  is car still in warranty ?

you will have to quote the sale of goods act to honda and tell them they are now not fit for purpose and haven't lasted for a reasonable length of time.
