There is no fixed OFF position on the lighting switch do you find this satisfactory?

No. This is the third car I have had with auto lights and none of them worked so you can put them in auto and forget them. For example I have just been on the motorway and had to turn the lights to off so they don't come on when I go under a bridge. Unfortunately in the new Jazz you can't do this. I think Honda should do a software update so that when you put the lights into the off position they stay off until you put them on again even if it's totally dark.

It is a challenge to have any automated system make the same judgements about appropriate headlight usage as the human brain. Honda probably has all the required hardware on board but I suspect the forward-looking camera isn't being utilised - a key input for me deciding when to use headlights is how well I can see others on the road. Until a competent automated system has been developed (and the Jazz is evidently not yet there) then I want full manual control over headlight usage.

One trick that car manufacturers miss with DRL's is that rear lights are not on as well.  I have seen loads of people driving in very bad light with just front DRL's which made car visible to other road  users (whether actual car driver could see well is another matter) - but from behind the cars were not visible because no tail lights.  My motorbike has headlight permanently on with ignition and also rear lights are on.

Cars controls seem to be getting more like microsoft software - very prescriptive and not always what you want, but hard to bypass - and sometimes just plain daft.

I would like to have DLR on my Jazz Hybrid (2012). This could be good solution. OEM DRL cost about 380€...
