I've cleaned the EGR to an inch of it's life, I've let the Honda dealer replace the crank sensor as that was the fault listed on dignostics. I've taken the positive lead off for a good half hour and cleaned the terminals. I've stuck a screwdriver into the removed positive lead and touched it to the body of the car so I can "erase" the "adaptive memory". All this and the engine still "bucks"! I've decided that bucks isn't the term I'm looking for. It's more like driving along in CVT mode and the engine misses. If I run it in CVT and it misses, I can switch to Auto (not Manual!) and it will behave. For a bit. When it misses in Auto, I switch it back to CVT until it, again, misses. Any ideas? WE like the car, but this is starting to wear on us. It's a 52 reg and Iris Pearl but we like it anyway and would rather fix this little bug than to start over again. The first one we owned was a peach, but was written off. We had to buy what we could afford with the little bit the insurance company gave us and had to "settle" with this one. If it weren't for bad luck, we'd have none! Any help appreciated. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

I would wonder if it's one of the coils to a spark plug breaking down.
I once had a car that behaved like yours sounds to be - and it was the devil to diagnose. Diagnostic codes just would not reveal it. It'd run OK for a bit, but put the engine under a little load with gentle acceleration or a slight uphill - particularly with a hot engine - and it'd suddenly and noticeably 'stutter'... and sometimes 'buck' - but just a little.
The only way I diagnosed it - and then fixed it - was to take a chance by buying one new coil, swap it on each cylinder in turn and drive the car till I found the one where it ran smoothly. It took patience with 6 cylinders/6 spark plugs... and with the DS-i you have 8 spark plugs to deal with! I hope this helps rather than leads you in the wrong direction. Best of luck.

Hi fsj
I have got a brand new egr valve for sale. Sold my 55 plate jazz so this plus 8 ngk plugs and oem air filter are surplus to requirements.
Get in touch if interested.
Regards
Rick

Perhaps as rick suggested you need a new egr?
Was wondering though, do you buy supermarket fuel?
Have you had the fuel filter changed?

try taking the fuel filler cap off and driving it - if the vent in the filler cap gets blocked it can cause a vacuum in the tank as fuel is drawn off (it happens quicker with a full tank as there is less air space in tank), which can affect fuel flow - had this happen on another car and that is what happened, but only after quite a few miles into the journey every time.
