Obviously insurance rates in South Africa will be different from UK, but here:
Driver - 65 years old, 8 years no claim bonus
Private use only
Excess R 2500 (about £200)
Annual premium is R 9000 (about £800)
Car has a value of R 150 000 (about £13000)

Any driver, 17 or over on road, 16 or over off road, £420 full comp, protected NCB. Driving Instructor Insurance.

I've just renewed mine today at £196, £88 lower than last year due to the drop out of a claim in March 2009 (I reversed into another car on my own drive, despite having reversing sensors!) This is with Aegis, through RIAS. Comprehensive, 2 drivers, no legal expenses, no courtesy car, aged 70, 10,000 miles p.a. £200 excess. It is garaged at night, but the main favourable factor is location in rural Suffolk.
