Title: Jazz Ancillary drive belt
Post by: culzean on August 10, 2012, 08:50:46 PM
After replacing the ancillary drive belt (aircon, alternator and water pump) at 50K and having just gone past 103K I decided it may be time to do it again.  I went to local Honda dealer and spare parts salesman said they only get them in when people order them, and there is not a specific life on them,  they just inspect them at service time and only replace if showing signs of breaking up.  He said they cost about £50 each, and the one on his Integra has done over 120K and is still OK.  He knew he had talked himself out of a sale but at least he was honest,  pretty unusual for a salesman these days.  Thinking back, when I took the one off after 50K it still looked pretty good to me.

A mate of mine serviced my car recently and this was one of the things I asked him about and he said mine was fine and to look at it I would agree no cracking or fraying ends, the car has done 65000 and its the original belt judging by the service manual as it does not state that it has been done in the past.
