Title: Infotainment questions
Post by: SpookyGal on July 08, 2026, 12:41:09 PM
I know there are posts on this but I have long term adhd and need to ask specific questions else I get quite confuzzled. I also hyperfocus on research.
Yet to test drive a mk3 or mk4 as only just had the funeral, but I am so taken with the mk3 sport. Now I know rhe infotainment system will not mirror my new S26 phone and I believe I cannot bluetooth google maps from my phone to the screen. I did read somewhere the verbal directions will play through the speakers. Is this correct?

Love to play cd's, have Spotify and love radio. I believe I can get Spotify through my phone to play through the infotainment system via bluetooth?

If I paid to get an aftermarket system installed, what would be the known issues?
Would I lose the cd player?
Would I lose the passenger airbag light and would this cause MOT issues?
Can an installer add a new screen without losing the cd player, passenger airbag light, and rear camera?

Any other issues, legal or otherwise, that I may encounter?

Thanks all for you patience.

Can't answer all the Qs but here's some partial thoughts:

Correct, you can do that but you have to switch the unit to take it's input from the phone. That is, you cannot listen to any audio (eg radio or CD) and expect the directions to cut in. Unless you take the audio from the phone as well.
TBH, it's less faff to just use the phone as a stand-alone satnav.

It's a long time since I tried this but I think you can do that.

In certain 3rd gen Jazzes you can set the clock, which is visible on top of the round dial right from the speedometer, only via infotainment display. As far as I know no aftermarket system supports that functionality.

My 2019 Jazz Dynamic (i.e. Sport) is such case.

Thank you both.
I know my questions sound a bit an*l, but a decent mk3 sport isn't cheap, for me, and if part of it doesn't work properly, it's a) annoying and b) a bargaining tool.
Happy to run my Google maps on my phone, as I have done for years in my old Jazz.
It is one of the reasons I have half an eye on the mk4.
