Title: Any 6ft drivers?
Post by: Karoq on May 12, 2026, 01:25:12 PM
Have any 6footers managed to sit with the drivers seat right UP without crushing their legs.
I sat in a Crosstar and Hondas's stupid seat arrangement (not only not having vertically adjustable front passenger seats)means that as you raise the drivers seat it moves forward. Why do Honda think all people that want the seat right up are midgets??
I want it right up to aid me getting in and out with my wonky back.
I assume this is the same with the Jazz Advance? I won't buy a Crosstar as I must have the blind spot and cross traffic alert warning systems on the Jazz which for some stupid reason Honda won't put on the Crosstar Advance (I also must have heated seats and steering wheel.)
Apparently it is dangerous and warranty invalidating, if you mess about with the parallelogram type mounting of the seat.
I have found seat rail extender bars, (to move the seat back) but only in America and I assume fitment of those may also invalidate the warranty.
Any bright ideas?

I'm 5'11'' and have the seat right up in my Advance Sport and don't have any issues. The seats are different in the Sport from the other models so you might want to give it a try, they are very comfortable and supportive.

I do have a suggestion - however, it comes at a price!

btw: Volkswagen has the same lifting mechanism that tilts the seat forwards while lifting.

Yes, 6ft and have the Jazz high enough not to touch the roof with my hair, not had a problem with the steering wheel having the adjustment to suit.

I'm 6ft and have no problem in my advance. But I may not have it at maximum seat height, But it must be quite high as Mrs LV, uses the same  height setting and she is only 5ft 4.

What do you mean by crushes your legs ?Have you tried  the full range of steering wheel adjustment, both in and out and up and down?

I tried it out today, because I had never had the driver's seat at maximum height with the backrest upright.

I am just over 6 ft. tall and slim. I could still get in and out just fine, provided I didn't have the steering wheel in the lowest position; that could be a bit problematic. It worked best with the steering wheel in the highest position, as I also had a good view of the dashboard screen then.
With the seat pushed all the way back and the backrest upright, there was still enough room for my legs and also (just) enough headroom, but...

I would never want to drive like that! Little to no support for the thighs; I was sitting only on my (bony) buttocks! Next to that, a bit difficult to arrange the rearview mirror properly and even with the high windscreen of the Jazz, having to bend forward when you are the first car at a traffic light. I didn't encounter any other disadvantages in those 5 minutes...

So, seat quickly back to the lowest position, the backrest a few clicks back again, the whole seat one click forward, the steering wheel as low as possible and all the way towards me. And that way I can drive for hours on end again without back pain or a numb butt. :D
