Title: Insurance for 2016 GP5 import
Post by: TheReal_JC on May 11, 2026, 10:20:51 PM
Hi all, new to the forum!

I am purchasing a 2016 Fit GP5 on Friday, and struggling to get insurance through comparison as they can't find the car.

Where abouts is the best place to try?

Also any ball parks on what I would expect to pay, I'm 32 and male.

Thanks!

Try a search for "Honda fit gp5 insurance". The Google AI overview starts:
"Insuring a Honda Fit GP5 (Japanese import, hybrid) typically requires specialist brokers or import-friendly insurers as it is classed as a Japanese import rather than a UK-spec Honda Jazz. Specialist insurance quotes for GP5 models often range from roughly £1,300 to over £2,000 per year, with some insurers requiring security trackers.
Key Considerations for GP5 Insurance
Specialist Brokers: Because the GP5 is a high-spec 1.5L hybrid imported from Japan, regular online comparison sites may struggle or offer high quotes. Companies like Adrian Flux, Keith Michaels, Advance Insurance, Jap Cover, and Brentacre specialize in imports and often provide better rates."

Hi Colin, thanks for this, did give this a go, but was wondering if anyone had any previous experience with this particular situation.

There was someone on the forum a few months ago with an imported Fit hybrid, see this thread:

Might be worth messaging him, but he doesn’t seem to have been very active recently. There’s also a guy from Adrian Flux who pops up on the forum whenever insurance issues get mentioned, try this thread:
