right about 3 months ago my 07 jazz 1.4 developed a slight grinding noise from brakes when braking hard. changed the pads. although they were only about 50% worn. discs were changed about a year ago. all seamed fine but its started making that harsh grinding noise again. this only happens when the car has done a few miles and is warm and only with heavy braking. when cold its fine even with heavy braking. and its ok when warm with normal braking. just rechecked everything and all looks fine. pads are like new theres no sticking calipers or sliders. any idea's ?

Stone/debris stuck at caliper or dust shield. Try reversing and braking - might dislodge.

nope nothing there. as stated i today relooked and recleaned everything up.

Let the forum have more details,
Are you able to spin each wheel in turn to ID the source of noise?
Does the car pull to one side when driving and or braking?
In normal braking any bringing or no noise
Any changes immediately before this issue first occurred.
My guess would be sticking slide pins and or gravel in disc easy to id and fix.
Lets know how you get on.

Sounds a little like a problem I had on a Skoda Superb once. Pads and discs were all fine, but when warmed up and coming to halt, there was a horrible grinding noise / feeling that I could only really describe as "like bark being ripped off a tree" .... which doesn't make much sense, but came into my mind.
Just previously, I had changed one of the ABS sensors and, as it was tough to get out, I had applied a smear of grease to the body of the replacement, and a blob of this grease was stuck on the business end of the sensor, presumably confusing the ABS system and making it do weird things to the calipers.
Cleaning the grease off the end solved the problem.

right its unfare to say the noise is there when hot . all you need to do is a few miles. when applying the brakes for the first few miles its fine even under hard braking . but once you done a few miles you can hear it starting to grind mostly under heavy braking. i found i can brake fine no noise but if i pump the peddle again then itl start. as stated in the post all the braking parts are ok NO! sticking calipers or sliders and discs are like new as was only changed just over a year ago. noise started with the Brembo pads that was in it. changed those to budget pads but syptoms are exactly the same.

sure your it is not the ABS kicking in - makes noise like that but you should feel pedal pumping

You can get different sounds from different setups. When I braked hard in my 2016 jazz you could hear the slight grinding noise from the pads as they gripped.
It's a bit like when you put a new exhaust on, each brand has its own certain noise

fixed the issue. took both front discs off cleaned them up swapped left to right replaced and now they are fine.. strange ? lol
