Title: Jazz Heated Steering Wheel Performance
Post by: DustinIsTrubl on December 10, 2024, 08:13:57 PM
I've found that my steering wheel either gets super hot or lukewarm with nothing in between.   Is this a common experience or is something wrong?

I have somewhat similar experience. Feels like the heating is either fully on or fully off. Probably it keeps alternating between on and off, like a thermostat, to try to maintain the proper temperature. Sometimes I hear a faint click sound when the heating relay switches between on and off. The same click can be heard when you press the steering wheel heating button.

Also I feel like if I switch the steering wheel heating off and then on again, the heating goes on again and it gets hotter.

Mine seems ok. I sometimes think it feels cooler, or hotter.. but maybe that is down to how cold/warm my hands are at the time.
A luxury I never thought I needed, until one came as standard with a Renault Captur I had.. so when I got the Jazz, it was a must have item. Great on those below zero mornings.
The seats seem quite consistent in their temperature.

I’ve never had a heated steering wheel before, even my Mk4 Prius didn’t have it

Now I love it as your hands feel so toasty on these cold days.  I’ve not had my Jazz long enough to comment on the heating performance overall though

I’m also using the heated seats more in my Jazz compared to the Prius as I hardly ever used the Prius one’s. The switch for the heated seats on the Prius were ridiculously tucked away out of sight but the Jazz has them right in front of you so it’s simple to switch them on when it’s chilly; you can feel the heat almost immediately too

I have found mine to be warmest at the ten to two position on the wheel and cooler at the bottom, also at the twenty to four position it doesn't heat up at all

Same here. So far the winters have not been cold enough to need it on permanently once the cabin warms up a bit. Indeed we decadent snug bums usually also need to turn the heated  seats down or off  after a while.  But its lovely while it lasts. :P )

The way things are with energy bills it may be better to sit in the car, aircon on at 25 deg, heated seats at full, heated wheel, laptop plugged in or a good book, snug as a bug in a rug  ;)

We have a small EV and you can do this with the car parked in the garage as there are no petrol fumes, it's useful to have as an "escape pod" if ever we have power cuts in the winter (can also be used to charge phones)

What a great use for an EV, I must get one and install it in my nuclear bunker ;)

This happens to my 21 EX as well. It becomes toasty, then lukewarm, then hot again.

Why to wait till it's super hot or toasty (and burn your fingers? ???). Once your hands are warme(d up a bit) you can switch it off.
Your manual https://www.honda.co.uk/cars/owners/manuals-and-guides/honda-owners-manuals/_jcr_content/par1/textcolumnwithimagem_1653971839/textColumn/richtextdownload_90f/file.res/2021%20Jazz%20Owner%60s%20Manual.pdf tells you on page 231:

When a comfortable temperature is reached,
press the button again to turn it off.

I've never used the heated wheel or seats

I find the material the wheel is made of never feels that cold and my body warms the seats up very quickly. Same theory again as they are not cold leather

All those Mad Max , and other post apocalypse , films  were wrong.   :o It wont be violent gangs controlling scare petrol supplies.   Surviving EV owners will rig up solar panels  and drive to the supermarket. Only to find empty shelves . The gangs will control grain supplies (sound familiar?)    :-\

Used the heated steering wheel today and it’s very toasty at the 10 to 2 position and cooler elsewhere

I don’t use it for very long as my hands are warmed up so quickly it’s really not necessary to keep it running

Also can’t believe how hot the heated seats become within no time at all;  it’s pure luxury  :D

By using both the heated wheel and seats I’ve found I can now turn the AUTO heating down a couple of degrees

yes we really are revelling in  toasty bum  experiences  ;D .  Its not long ago I would have regarded heated seats and steering wheel as ridiculous decadence  except in arctic conditions.   I could again manage without them but hope I never have to.  :-*  No heated wheel less likely to  be a deal breaker.

Obviously toasty bum is flavour of the month here. Aldi has a value heated seat cover you plug into the 12v socket. Just imagine the volcano heat of double toasty!  ;D ;D ;D

Wow that sounds lovely  :o

I thought heated seats was a bit of a gimmick to be honest but now I’m using them I love it

I never bothered with them in the Prius as the switch was tucked away out of sight and when I tried them they weren’t that warm anyway but the ones in my Jazz are actually hot  :D
