Title: Lane Keeping Assist System
Post by: Mr Onion on January 22, 2024, 04:42:32 PM: OK I give up. I've read the manual, hit every button (both real and virtual) on the dash, and can I find how to disable it?

Can I *insert swear word here*

Go on, what am I missing?

It defaults to off when you switch off the car anyway so you would have to enable it each time you start the car.

Unless you don't mean LKAS at all?

The following applies for MY24 (for older models see Kremmen's step-by-step instructions (https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=13858.msg109254#msg109254)):

* press the Home button on the steering wheel
* use the scroll wheel and scroll to "Safety Support"
* press the scroll wheel to select Safety Support
* scroll down until you get to the RDMS icon (the car leaving the lane on the right)
* press the scroll wheel
* select the setting you want

Please keep in mind that this has to be repeated after every power-up (EU regulations).

Probably Mr Onion has a problem with RDMS and is confusing it with LKAS. RDMS can be disabled as coldstart described.

Maybe I don't. The warning that tells you when you are 'leaving your lane' with a dashboard icon and steering wheel loading. I think its the RDMS as others have mentioned (too many acronyms for me)

Of course: The LKAS has to be activatet manually - so, if you have a problem with this assistant, then simply don't use it :)

The RDMS is the "nanny" thing that interferes with your driving but it can be deactivated (as explained above).

Note: I think newer Jazz models don't have that P button so is performed via the touchscreen instead which must be a backward step ?

... although why it can not be a one button (even if virtual) on/off like the stability assist I have no idea.

Don’t agree, it is now far easier to disable RDMS on the later Mk4 models, as everything can now be done from the LH steering wheel control, and viewed on the instrument panel, without having to search around for a button down by your knee.

Mine does not have the same settings that are shown in the video. There is no option for warning only(I wish it did).

I agree regarding what is the point of it, especially when it can have a mind of its own, but at least we can switch it off, even if it is a nucense to do it on every start up.

Kremmen's recommendations on how to disable the RDMS has changed my life. Bit fiddly at first but I can now do it in my sleep.

Wow, thats quite a statement :o
I've been told you can turn it off permanently via the CANbus but it might void the warranty ;D

I went through all this my self when I bought my Mark 4, I was constantly on here asking for help,it all can drive you up the wall, I gave up posting about it when I was told haven’t you read the book, so I just gave up asking and did my best,it all seems very complicated at first, however you will find most people on here very helpful, you will get it in the end
The car is great to drive , but doesn’t need all this crap.

Plasma
