I had car in for a repair and they took it on a 13 mile test run. I think they been messing about with the controls. The heated seats controls were on maximum, the info screen just above steering wheel was stuck on “!”, two bars on petrol gauge when I handed it in with four and sat nav no voice. It’s Sat night so not happy. I switched off the heated seats and eventually after fiddling with selector wheel left side of steering wheel I got info screen back to normal. When I went out in car message displayed saying I need petrol so filled up with just over 27 litres. For sat nav no voice, after watching a YouTube, I went into General Settings, System, System Volumes and Navigation Guidance the volume is very high so stumped on what can it be?. Still no voice. Any ideas?.

Could the heated seats and steering wheel on maximum use the extra petrol?.

Extract from Navigation Manual:
How do I turn on the navigation system voice guidance?
● Adjust the volume using the volume knob during the
voice guidance.
● Press the button.
Select General Settings > System > System
Volumes.
Turn up volume level of Navigation Guidance if it is
low.
That might help!
If you have the radio or music on, the sat nav will reduce the volume of the radio/music with the voice guidance, when that happens you can adjust the volume of the voice guidance using controls on the steering wheel. In your case you will probably have the radio or music reduced in volume and not hear the voice guidance because someone turned the volume right down.
Or you may have a bigger problem!!
-
Any ideas already checked Navigation Guidance?. Don’t know why mentioned again.
Factory reset or is there a Navigation reset?.
-
There is a reset in the navigation app settings.
-
Don’t have any app. If that My Honda thing never used it.
-
... In the Nav app itself.
-
Its: Navigation > Settings > Restore Navigation Settings.
Hope that works.
I know on Waze or Google maps you can turn the voice off, don't know if you can on the inbuilt nav, I haven't come across it, but that doesn't mean its not in there somewhere, maybe in the hidden menu.

Why do people repeat what I already checked?

What app?. I’m using screen in car for General Settings, System, System Volumes and Navigation Guidance the volume is very high so stumped on what can it be?.
-
The 8 tiles on the audio screen are Apps. No.1 in the image is the navigation app.
There is a Data reset function in the settings of the navigation app.

Thank you. I had been in car looking around and found the restore option.
Navigation, three dots, Settings, About, Restore Navigation Settings then Restore
Not made any difference so still no sound.

...This was for the reset, not the volume. I think you have looked in all the right places for the volume.
The only thing I can think of was trying to alter the volume whilst the Nav was giving directions also had an effect (although that may have been mentioned for another brand altogether ;D :-\)

That indeed works. It just requires responsiveness and quick action... My wife in the passenger seat is really good at it! ;D
-
From what I understand, trying to change the volume whilst it's giving directions only allows you to turn the voice volume down to 1, not off
To do that requires the settings area the OP has already investigated
It sounds like the garage messed it up so should be approached to fix it
Just out of interest does the normal audio mute when it's trying to give instructions.
Clutching at straws .... the SatNav only comes out of the driver's side, is the audio balanced to both sides
-
There's a tab in the hidden menu called "Audio Check" Anyone know what that does, it might help identify the problem.
-
...Cycles through the speakers with a tone AFAIK.
-
Try this?.
-
We had exactly this problem on our EX.
After switching head units and other messing about by the dealer, they established that the sound loss was attributable to corrupt file(s) on the music contained on my usb stick!
If you have any music on a plugged in usb stick try removing the usb and doing a full reset of the infotainment system to see if voice guidance is restored. This worked for us and I only use a limited amount of good sourced music on a new FAT32 formatted usb stick…..we have been problem free since!
Good luck and please let us know how you get on

Recap. I checked volume level in General Settings. Did Default reset in there. Restored navigation settings within the App. Did forcestop too. Wonder if updating sat nav with latest version would solve it,?. What is latest version for the Jazz?. Says installed maps Europe 2022 v1.0 and Europe 2023 v1.0 on mine.
-
The latest 2024 mapping has just been released, but, it has a bug according to posts here
You can't use the search function
If it's the same as the last 2 years first updates you get a spinning wheel after you input any first character

As @Kremmen has already pointed out the current update isn't such a good idea. Look here for more details: https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=15569.75 (https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=15569.75)
Thanks for the recap.
My understandig is that the sat nav was working alright prior to the visit to your Honda dealer.
You should definitely ask why they made a 13 mile test run and what they did with the controls and why.
From your initial posting: The heated seats controls were on maximum, the info screen just above steering wheel was stuck on “!”,
If you're feeling adventurous you might want to try a "hard reset" by disconnecting the 12 V battery for some time (have a cup of tea in the meantime). Please read the chapter "12-Volt Battery" starting on page 544 in the online manual about steps necessary after reconnecting the 12 V battery.
-
I read somewhere to leave it disconnected for at least half an hour to allow all the capacitors to lose charge so when reconnected it can perform a clean cold boot to all affected systems
-
Problem was the speaker in the driver’s door had not been reconnected. The sat nav voice only works off this speaker. Should have noticed no sound for radio either. 😂
-
Makes sense
I did post that in reply #15, last line
I wonder if I'd notice if that speaker dropped out

Still think you should have a few words with Honda Dealer about service!
