Starting from the 2nd August 2023 the DVLA have introduced a new road tax reminder system.
This new system, if you decide to use it, requires you to create an account with the DVLA, more information here :

A lot of use that is. You have to have a current, or expired in the last 12 months, passport. Mine expired about 30 years ago and I have no intentions of renewing it.

I would avoid giving Swansea anymore info - they have a track record of selling off UK driver data.

I took one of my cars for MOT the other day and realised the tax was due from Aug 1st having not had a reminder. I might suspect the wonderful DVLA have just decided to abandon the process anyway.
Because I have several vehicles I guess it'll be best for me to register for this new arrangement.
Thanks for the heads-up, as usual there seems to have been no official publicity, they assume it gets around by osmosis.

Osmosis. Is that like Whistl?

I normally get my reminder in the first week of the prior month.
When it hadn't arrived I looked it up and found a few posts on MoneySavingExpert about the new system so I followed it up.
Then my reminder arrived yesterday in the post so hopefully just a delay rather than no reminder

All signed up for the new service
I did mention in the feedback that not everyone has a passport

Signed up for this. I registered several vehicles, some needed the V5C reference number entering, some didn't. I think it’s either because my address is shown slightly differently or the last change of owner and issue of the V5C was a long time ago.
Everything went fine though, easy website to use.
