Title: Autoglym Surface Detailing Clay Kit
Post by: guest1160 on July 05, 2010, 01:11:20 PM
Has anyone ever used Autoglym Surface Detailing Clay Kit.  My jazz is just over a year old and I want to give it a really good clean. I have heard that claying a cars paint helps improve the finished polished surface.  Is it worth using on my Crystal Black Pearl paintwork.

What is the best polish to use to achieve the greatest protection and shine?

Ive got it too, just not got round to using it yet.

Try Autoglym's 'ultra deep shine' followed by 'extra gloss protection'.

Try"Greased Lightning" available on the internet or on Channel 22 Preview as a offer. It is expensive but does exactly what it says on "the tin" I have user it for 6 months now and for a quick and easy outstanding shine I have not seen anything better.

Well Ive just tried 'Autoglym Surface Detailing Clay Kit' and it does what it says.

The surface is mirror smooth ready for polishing.

Recommend it to anyone.

I've never clayed a car before but I'm thinking about giving it a go.

I've found a how-to guide on claying: click here (http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=4829)

Halford now sell a selection of clay kits including this Autoglym kit are running the 3 for 2 deal again.

There is also a clay called bilt hamber available online that uses water instead of a lubricant.

Thanks for that useful link, its got really nice clear information. I've been thinking of using clay, but the info on the packs don't give as good as instructions as that. And I didn't appreciate having to keep it wet all the time.
I might get some and have a go, time for a spring clean!  :D

I clayed the car today, after years of dismissing using a clay bar over fears of marring the paint.

Using the clay bar as directed didn't leave any scratches and left the paintwork mirror smooth. It took less time to polish the car afterwards with Autoglym Super Resin Polish than normal and left cloth much cleaner afterwards then polishing without prior claying.

I would recommend using a clay bar even after years of being sceptical. Have a look at some of the specialist online detailing suppliers as the clay kits are sometimes cheaper than Halfrauds even with p&p included, providing you already have some cloths to hand.

I'll take a photo of the clay bar later!   :D
