When using Google Maps and Waze through Android Auto a schematic of the next junction with a direction of travel and countdown appears on the driver’s screen behind the steering wheel when close to the junction. On my set up this seems to work well for all junctions except roundabouts where the direction of travel is often wrong or at least misleading e.g. when going straight on at the roundabout it sometimes shows the direction of travel as turning back on itself or turning sharp left. Is this normal?

I've not seen that with either the built-in Garmin or Google maps via my Android phone so maybe it's a Waze only issue. Is the Garmin system OK for you?
-
I sometimes have that problem too. I think that is due to the accuracy of the position determination by the satellite.

It’s an Android auto issue, just google Android auto roundabout

Yep android auto, and web shows in on other makes. I found it worse in waze.
But it does add a more human touch ?

Thanks for the quick replies. In answer to a question about Garmin, I have the mid-range SR model that comes without its own navigation system hence me using Google Maps and Waze on Android Auto. I now note that this is a known issue which I have also found worse on Waze than Google Maps. I don't get anything on the driver's screen when using Apple Car Play but I believe this might be a fault or i-phone connectivity issue that I am hoping will be addressed later this week by the dealer.

I've had similar issues with google maps. The schematic roundabout showing directly ahead when the actual angle of departure is different. Also it may suddenly reroute a complete circuit of the roundabout and back the way I came even though I hadnt missed the correct exit.. I've not tried waze yet.
I havnt had this issue with the built in Garmin. The schematic roundabout display is better and displays the closest match it can to the correct angle of departure. It may not always get it right if the roundabout is not a typical shape.

I wonder how the Satnav would cope with this. It's in Swindon.

Ah, the magic roundabout :)

I didn't try this one yet...

...but I can imagine that Garmin, Waze and Google Maps will get a bit (https://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/c078.gif)
