I've fitted the front mudflaps. I'm not sure how to use the captive nut provided in the kit for the rear flaps. Are you able to help me please? :D
-
I've got flaps fitted, by the dealer, but I can't get a photo till tomorrow, if no one else can help.
-
You need to cut a piece out of the wheel arch liner and then fold the clip around the edge of the bumper, see attached fitting instructions.

That's a big job, bumper off.
Glad the dealer did it.

Thanks.... I think.... ???

I don't know if this is any help :

Let me know if you need a different angle

Thank you. What can be seen in that picture is the easy part. The attachment under the back of the car is what I was not too sure about. The kit comes with a couple of those threaded bodywork clips. I couldn't figure out where they go. That PDF shows that I'm supposed to take the rear bumper off. I've sent the dealer an email asking how much they'd charge me to fit them. If they want silly money I may have to do it myself.

Thank you. I appreciate your photo's. Can I ask you to take a photo from a little further out so I can understand the orientation?
I'm sure other people will find this thread useful.

Useful the thread is for sure! It made me decide to wash (https://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/haushalt/a038.gif) the car more often instead of this ehhh... (https://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/haushalt/g070.gif)

No wonder my dealer told me that mudflaps couldn't be fitted to a Crosstar - he included the windscreen cover instead, although I think that's a lot cheaper than the mudflaps.
-
Your wish is my command...
Many thanks dear boy! :-*

Interesting to find out if the dealers follow the procedure. If the rear flap was attached to uppermost screw point, then drill pilot hope into the rearqtr panelThen screw into the pilot hole, so the two screws are attached to metal work rather than clip on bumper.?
If the dealer cuts those cutouts then what is the chance that they seal/ prime the raw edges before hanging bumper back...
Seems crazy not to have those cut out from the factory, or indeed why not fit as std at factory.
I was reluctant to pay the 'fitted' price for mats and flaps, but relented to gets flaps fitted. Didn't know it was possible to make them so difficult.
And I am astonished with kremmen s car. Mud flaps need mud!

Indeed.

;D
Yes, both the front flaps went on in about 20 minutes.
-
At the moment I've hardly used the car. Still not done 200 miles yet.
Before I had mudflaps I had lots of side damage due to some UK counties repairing roads and finishing them off with 'loose chippings' --- hello Worcestershire !
Mudflaps also prevent the unsightly brown trail behind both wheels.

Again, another owner preference.
Isn't the bit that needs cutting plastic, not metal ?

I wonder if the idea of this fixing is to protect the car's plastic bumper in the event of the mudflap being ripped off by an obstacle.

I prefer to keep our Jazz clean this (https://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/haushalt/a038.gif) way instead of this (https://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/haushalt/a066.gif) way...

Hello,
I bought the splash guards, but in the package I did not find the sheet with the assembly instructions, only the 4 splash guards and the screws (I hope they are all there, I have not checked yet),
Wouldn't you be kind enough to email me a copy of the assembly instructions or even put them here on the site?
Thanks for your help.
(sorry for the mistakes I used google translate)
-
Look at page 1 of this thread, 3rd post, from Steve m. Instructions attached there
-

No instructions in my kit either. That PDF shows what to do. I haven't been brave enough to attempt to do it yet!
-
Hello,
I don't understand why they didn't put the instructions,
however if I had seen the post of "Steve m" before I would not have bought the accessory, I thought that it was enough to put some screws, I did not believe that it was even necessary to remove the bumper,
surely the work will have to be done in the workshop, I don't think about doing it myself.
Surely it will cost a lot because I imagine that at least 2 hours of work will be there.
And then I have to hope that they know how to do everything, I have no idea if they have ever fitted original mud flaps in the workshop.
Obviously I will have the job done in the authorized Honda workshop
-
The Honda mudflaps supply and fit price is £155.
The Cox flaps price is £58 reduced from £68
-
Unfortunately, the work really costs a lot
next week I'm going to ask when they can fit them.
I paid 85 euros for the splash guards
-
Hi, today I had the mud flaps fitted at the Honda workshop and I was surprised at what happened,
I left the car in the workshop for about 40 minutes or 1 hour,
when I came back the work was already done,
and when I asked for the cost of the assembly, they replied "nothing for so little", of course I thanked them and went home.
Now I have a doubt, but is the work to be done really what "Steve_M" had posted?
disassemble the bumper and do not know what other things?
It makes me think that they only pierced and attached the splash guards, I don't know what to think, the job seems to have been done well,
but also for free with the disassembly of the bumper and in any case 1 hour of work?
Or is the work really so simple (obviously for those who have equipment and do that professionally)?
What do you think?
Thanks for your opinions

Was the fitting included in the cost of the mudflaps? Surely you didn't provide the mudflaps and they fitted them free!
-
Hello,
no, the price was not included, I just bought the pieces and I thought I'd assemble them myself,
then when I saw the guide who also talked about removing the bumper I left everything alone and I thought of having them fitted to them.
so I don't know what to think

So, let me get this straight: You took the mudflaps to your dealer and they fitted them free?
Where do you live, I may need to visit your dealer?
-
Y es that's right, however I had always bought splash guards from them.
I live in Italy, maybe it's out of the way :D
-
If they are used to removing bumpers (and it's not your own car...) it would be quick to remove bumper.
But the cuts are to allow a nut clip to be attached to the bumper plastic work rather than the metal flange behind it.
It would be quicker and more obvious to drill and use self tapper, or to use a self piercing screw.
The rear flaps on mine are attached to plastic as there is give if you grab them.
You could check to see how secure they feel.
Not sure of the benefit, as the cut edges of the cut out s are as likely to that as using a self tapping screw.
-
Hello,
I couldn't figure out what I should check,
google translator translates in an incomprehensible way to me,
so I struggle to answer you.
Excuse me

Hello,
no no I was referring to what "DERMOT" wrote
i dont understand what i need to check, google translate translation is not clear

@ wonder
Most other car's mudflaps are screwed or clamped to the sheet metal wheel arches. They are securely fixed.
The Jazz however attaches to the plastic wheel arches and rear bumper. In order to fit them, serrated nut clips are fixed to the plastic wheel arch liner.
To allow room for these serrated clips, squares are cut from the wheel arch lips.
My dealer fitted rear flaps - if I grab them and force them to move side to side, I see the mounting points move. The bumper and the liner will flex. It is clear to see that they are attached to plastic panels and not steel wheel arch lip.
If your dealer simply drilled thru to the wheel arch then the flaps will feel more secure.
-
Hello,
I can't tell you, I looked at the mud flaps and they seem to be fitted well,
I tried to move them and all in all they seem to me fixed well,
I don't know what I can still control,
but even if they didn't charge me for the assembly, I think it is more likely that they simply mounted them with screws without cutting the sheet metal.
