Title: Car OCD
Post by: Kremmen on September 22, 2021, 08:38:28 AM
I know I'm sad but I do like to have the front seats lined up and the air vents all in line.

I remember James May saying he did that as well.

When I had a power socket with fag lighter the cigarette and rising smoke icon had to point forwards.

I think I'm beyond saving

I do have the same symptoms. Despite them, you can still live happy life.

I always open the door for my wife and she thinks I'm being very kind.
To be honest I just don't want her to scratch the paintwork with her rings when she gets in.

I have to have the volume setting on a prime number - 13, 17, 19, 23, 27 etc..

A comment by , I think,  a prominent politician. When a man is  seen opening a car door for a woman, "she's either his  bit on the side or it's his  new car"!

What a sad lot.
You all need proper help.

I try to ensure all the valves on the tyres point the same way. That how to be Obsessive. 8)

I have severe Car OCD but mainly focussed on cleaning. That said, couple of issues:

1) Hate when you've got the auto wipers on and they are not parked properly when you switch off. I have to make sure they are parked properly.

2) Hate the steering wheel being anything other than centred when parking. I like everything lined up properly.

One of my late uncles had an odd one. He had a Mk2 Jag (Inspector Morse type). Long bonnet. He couldn't bear that to be dirty when looking out the front. He often, if in a rush, just cleaned the bonnet so he had the illusion of a clean car when driving.

You'd be unhappy in my car; I use a steering wheel lock that needs to have one of the wheel spokes pointing to the 12 o'clock position.

There's method in that madness. If the wheels are locked in a turned position you can't push or tow the car in a straight line.

The wheels are not far off straight actually

As a side note: This is also why, when waiting to turn across oncoming traffic, you should never have your wheels pointing in the direction you are wanting to turn.  If someone hits you from behind, you will get shunted into the oncoming traffic.

The roadside services like AA will lift driving wheels off the road anyway when towing, they have to on autos, CVT, electric cars anyway to prevent making the transmission FUBAR...

I really do think you guys need to get out more though and forget these first world problems.

And those that do genuinely have OCD are suffering from a medical condition.  We all have it to some extent but for some it is a real issue.

My brother has CDO, a bit like OCD but the letters are in correct alphabetical order,  which is exactly how they should be  :o

I always put the locking wheel nut aligned with the tyre valve .................... Oh dear, I'm on the slippery slope.

My locking wheel nuts are in the garage - aligned with the spiders webs on one of the shelves...

Changed Garmin PND icon from Civic to Jazz.

Not red and not a MK4 but a Jazz :

One appeal of the Honda Jazz is that they didn't brag about the trim level on the tail.
