Title: Screen set-up without draining 12v. battery
Post by: Hugh R on July 29, 2021, 11:09:05 PM
I can't find where I read this but am I right in thinking that to sit in the car and set the many screen options will put a drain on the 12v battery. Then I think I read it's possible to press the start button twice quickly and this will bring in the hybrid battery (without starting the engine) thus alleviating the strain on the 12v. Can someone please confirm this procedure and if it's possible.  Thanks.

So that the 12volt battery is not drained for any long period, either use the audio in accessory mode (1 press of power button without foot on brake) then just the audio works and the system will warn to shutdown after around 30 minutes. or with power mode fully on (1 press of power button with foot on brake) engine may start depending on conditions and would intermittently run to replenish the HV battery, but the 12 volt battery will be kept charged.

If you press the start button without having your foot on the brake you can use the touchscreen options, pressing again means you can use other controls (eg on steering wheel). In both cases this will be using the 12V battery but shouldn't be a problem unless the battery was very low to start with.

The 12V battery isn't used for starting the petrol engine, this is done by the lithium battery

Just put the car in ready mode by pressing the brake pedal and the power button together.
The HV battery will keep the 12V battery charged, and in case the HV gets too low, the petrol engine will kick in to charge it.

If you double press the power button, the car will go in accessory mode, thus only the 12V will power the car electronics.

They are good tips with regard to set up/ configuring stuff out.
