Title: Disc Brake slide pins
Post by: UKjim on June 24, 2021, 04:28:43 PM
Just changing my discs and stupidly removed slide pins without noting whether the one with the flats is top or bottom, anyone know please?

If there is a 'blind' hole in top or bottom of caliper ( a hole with a dead end ) the flats will go in that one,  the flat is to release any air or grease trapped in the hole and unable to get out, causing 'hydraulic lock'...

This exploded diagram shows pin with flat in lower hole

Thanks Culzean, that confirms what I thought. A friend was helping me and he removed the pins whilst I was making a cuppa!
