Title: Nobody wants it!!!
Post by: coffeecup on May 24, 2021, 03:12:59 PM
Hi

Been trying now for over a month to sell my mother-in-laws Jazz, It's a SE I-VTEC CVT, One Lady Owner from new, Very Low mileage, 11200 and in superb condition.Honda Service up to 8k,T & T.

Is it the colour, burn Orange,or is it the price, we are asking £7200, or is it that we are advertising on Gumtree and Marketplace?

What does the board think??

Have you tried putting it on autotrader.
Costs less than £50.00 to put it up for about 3 weeks and you can put up loads of photos.
Have sold 3 cars there all inside the 3 weeks.
My MK3 was bought by a dealer for a very good price and now I see it on their web site for over £2,000.00 more than autotrader recommend .
There's a shortage of good clean second hand cars and the dealers are desperate for them.
Give it a try .

As you have not told us the age of the car, we can do nothing...

Gumtree and Marketplace are hardly where you sell low mileage nice cars..
Autotrader may be more suitable.

Yeah, I would agree, Autotrader would be the place for a decent motor such as yours.

Gumtree etc are better for lower value motors, and even then, can be hard work. Sold several cars over the years, and at £7k, it does need to be Autotrader.

I keep reading about prices being very strong at auction, and a shortage of stock. It would be well worth trying the trade direct, see what offers you get.

Try these folk.

Sorry, missed that bit, it's a 2015. Will have a go on Autotrader.

I don't think the colour helps, orange is not for everyone but it should sell with that mileage and condition.

I tend to get a price from webuyanycar and take it from there.

I would also take it to a main dealer and see what they offer.

A quick look on AutoTrader suggests the price you're asking is reasonable so I suppose people are right about it being where you're advertising.

I think it might be too cheap. I've just done a search on Autotrader for 2015-2016 Jazz CVT sub 15000 miles, and the cheapest nationwide is £8500. If you're selling at £7200, might look suspicously cheap, you know, if something looks to good to be true then.......

I know there's a couple of other buying service suggestions, but what's the We Buy Any Car valuation?  Apparently they're very keen at the moment and on another forum I visit people are tracking how their cars are increasing in value.

It seems if you get a quote then leave it a few days they'll often email with a higher offer.   Some people say they knock the value down when you take the car but others have sold to them without issue.

We had an email the other day from our local dealer asking if we wanted to sell them our 2014 Jazz.

List at £8500 and if you get an offer for £8000 you will be happy?

A possible consideration is that the car in question is a 2015 model but when in that year because the Mk3 was
introduced in, I think, September 2015. If people are looking for a Mk3 this may be confusing the issue.

Hi

We tried it on Gumtree and Marketplace for about 4 weeks at £8k, then dropped it to £7.3k, Nothing, so tried our Local Honda Dealers and they Offered £7k there and then. Tried Wizzle and got £7700 offer from 'wewantanycar.com' in showroom condition and £7200 in Average condition.

Think its a Mk3 as it was registered in Sept 2015.

I think the days of selling private are on the wain, as most folk want finance, might try Autotrader at say £7800 and if that doesn't work see if someone from Wizzle will give us those offers they have.

What are fourth (usually G), fifth and sixth characters in the VIN?  eg. GA1.

If you've had £7700 I'd take it. Result Mike. Hassle free professional buyer with ID and verified. No privates possibly wasting your time and potential for payment to go wrong. By the time you've paid for the ATrader add............ Wizzle looks like the solution. Get it sold. And it's £400 more than you had it advertised for already. Quids in and you can get the insurance and tax cancelled. IMHO.

Private sellers are on the wain. Not many people these days have actual cash ready to go. Bangers work, but I wouldn't want to be selling something lumpy these days.

In 2004, we had a 2001 Accord SE Exec. At the time they were on Honda forecourts for £10k, I struggled to get £7.5k for it. No one had the money. Fortunately I'd bough it from Aston Barclay auction and still made a few quid, but if it owed me near retail, it would have been an expensive time.

WeBuyAnyCar is part of BCA, British Car Auctions, BCA have typically taken trade-ins  from the dealers which BCA then sell at auction.   BCA are cutting out the dealers acting as middle men by approaching the owner/seller directly, bypassing the customer trade in process.
I'm warned that the WeBuyanyCar offer is a baiting tactic, when they have inspected your car, there may be  a heavily revised offer to you

WBAC offered me £50 for my Jazz. And that was before seeing it.
I'd rather set it alight in the street

If you look at and read the Home page of Club Jazz, you will see it mentions the Chassis codes of the various Generations of the Honda Jazz.  These are the numbers you are asking about in the VIN.

The post is here: https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=6323.0

The Mk4 chassis code(s) haven't been added yet. Mk4 is GR.

Here is one of the best guides for the Jazz / Fit
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Fit

Interesting explanation of why we have "Jazzes" rather than "Fits"

"Honda may have planned to use the name Fitta, and it was released in Japan under that name in 2001. Because Fitta in Scandinavian languages is slang for vagina, Honda instead used Jazz in most markets and Fit in the Americas."

Yeah, check out BCA fees for your money transfer and admin fees. Still, our local WBAC place in the Asda car park is never quiet so some folk obviously need the money pronto and are prepared to pay.

BCA are also selling direct to the public. https://www.cinch.co.uk/about-us

@Coffeecup - Hope the transaction goes smoothly for you.  :D

Why not give    coffeecup   your local dealers details if they are in the market to buy a Jazz.

Sure - it was more of a general comment that any Honds dealer might be interested although I see there was a later post saying that had been tried.

Our local dealer is Cheshire Oaks Honda, but the email refers to all the Holdcroft group dealers so that includes Warrington and Stoke.

I've never used them but I'm seeing quite a few reports on forums that as long as you've described the car accurately they do give the offered price.  Right now they're so keen they're increasing some offers.

BMW, Audi and Mercedes should all have a model called Asole...... ( and for last few years JLR,  as quite a few Range Rover drivers would deserve that name ).

That and c**k wafter. Oh the self entitled look at me brigade!

When I see folk in those cars, I always comment "yeah, but your jealous of my cars reliability though Mr JLR"

BTW don't forget to remind Mr JLR that he is driving an Indian car, and that swanky modern Mr Volvo is now driving a Chinese Trumpchi. LOL.

Those brands of cars Audi, Range Rover BMW Mercedes  etc, I consider   to be vulgar and tasteless symbols of status, therefore another reason to drive a modest car such as a  Jazz,  I feel sad our society has declined to such extremes of   narcissism, conspicuous consumption  and self-exhibition.

Well said. Couldn't agree more.

No1: Please do not assume that I drive what I can afford. I drive what I want to, I do not feel the need to display my wealth with a status symbol. After all, Jeff Bezos drives a regular Honda Accord and he is a fairly well healed fella to the tune of many billions USD.

No2: I don't need a car to massage my ego. I'm quite happy in my life and do not need to compensate for anything with a badge! I enjoy my Jazz life, brilliant cars.

Another in full agreement.

I'm hopefully going Jazz because it suits my changing lifestyle.

Back in the day my in-laws lived in Rye and the mother-in-law worked in Woolies in Rye high street. She said Paul McCartney used to pull up outside in a battered old purple Mini

I want a car which is reliable, versatile, a decent amount of internal space without occupying too much road, cheap to run and cheap to maintain. Not many of the "premium" models tick many of those boxes.

I have been interested in and driven cars for well over half a century. I passed my test in 1967 and cars had  been used as a status symbol for at least half a century before that.

Nothing new under the sun!
