Hi Guys
I have a couple of questions, re the Mk4 Jazz/Crosstar. and the function of the brake lights, which I can't really answer without being in 2 places at once!
1. When stopped at traffic lights etc and using the 'Brake Hold' function, do the brake lights Stay On?
2. Conversely, when descending a hill, or slowing down using the 'B' mode, do the brake lights Come On?
I ask this because, 'A', one of my pet hates, is being stopped in a queue, with the car in front, keeping his/her brake lights, On, and 'B' being concerned that someone may run in the back of me, because they have not seen that I'm slowing down.

Think the brake light only need to come on at retardation of more than 0.3g (UN ruling) and I doubt regen exceeds that level.

I have always assumed that using 'Brake Hold' is the same as having a foot on the footbrake so the brake lights would be on. I very rarely use it unless in a stop-start queue of traffic, if I need to pause at junctions I use the parking brake, it's automatically released by pressing the accelerator if in 'D' or 'B'.
Regarding 'B' I tend to use this going down hills, it's a bit like changing down to 2nd gear in a manual box, I haven't had anybody go into the back of me so far!

When driving in the dark, the brake light is reflected in the rear window. That way I have found out that it does in fact light up when using the brake hold function.
When driving in ‘B’ it does not light up.

There is a display that shows the rear of the car and the action of the lights.
Select ACC but you don't need to activate it. Switch display to Simple (the 0.0 one). You will see a representation of the rear of the car.
Brake Hold keeps the brake lights on, however if the parking brake is applied the lights go out after a short delay. You can also see the brake lights come on when using ACC if the car has to slow significantly.
Hope this makes sense.
