Hey all!
I recently relocated from South America to Edinburgh in the UK, and decided to buy a used Honda Jazz MK2 2011 with 40k miles on it, that looked in really good shape from my little mechanical knowledge. So far, the car has been lovely to drive!
It's the 2011 Mk II model (facelift 2011) 1.4 i-VTEC CVT. It's a joy to look at and to use, honestly.
That car had only the original owner and full service history in the book, but I still would like to know what should I do to it as a "first service" kind of thing? The car already has new back tires (the front ones still have like 6.5mm of tread and no lumps or cuts, so they look fine) and new breakpads in the back too.
If anyone has any advice for a first time Honda owner, and Jazz owner, and who is also new to the UK, well I will definitely appreciate it!

Welcome and congratulations! Looks like you picked a typical Jazz- low mileage, well looked after. The post 2011 Jazz is the best- the CVT is a lot better than my I-Shift.
As for servicing, ask your friends and colleagues if there is a good independent garage. Check if the CVT transmission oil has been changed. But if it's not due for a service yet, then just regular oil, fluid and tyre pressure checks should be sufficient.
Next time when you change your tyres, go for All Seasons tyres because it will be safer for the cold weather in Scotland.

Yeah! I'm quickly finding out that the original owner bought it with all the options or something! It has tinted colors, fog lights, sequential gear paddles, the panoramic sunroof -- it even has bluetooth, which I honestly wasn't expecting!

Welcome. Lovely looking car. I live in Kirkcaldy, but frequent the City Bypass two or three days a week. Driving in Edinburgh itself can be a right pain, especially since the introduced the blanket 20 mph limit in the city centre.

Cabin air filters are often neglected.

I don't know if it is an issue in Jazz, but in older CR-V the radiator plastic housing is prone to crack and cause leakage. So if you need to add coolant, drive it hot, find a not windy place, open the hood and check if there is any smell of coolant.

Some manufacturers put pollen filters in the weirdest places. Mk2 Focus being a case in point, you need to be a skilled contortionist to change on.

I'll raise you the old Ford Galaxy. You were supposed to take the under-bonnet scuttle soundproofing out, remove the wiper arms and take the windscreen wiper assembly out to access it.
I figured out that you could *just* slide the (18" long) pollen filter cassette out if you undid the wiper assembly mounting bolts, loosened the outer windscreen scuttle trim and tugged the wiper assembly forward an inch.

My Mk1 Octi was under the windscreen surround. Flippin thing bit me every other year when I changed it, I've still got the scars! :D

The service dept designed it, of course, to charge more labour hours.

The Galaxy's was in the same place I suspect, the two cars have very much in common - the Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra built on a modified VW Golf platform, as was the Octavia. The problem with the Galaxy was that the windscreen came much further forwards, because of the wedge shaped front end. Putting brake fluid in was an ordeal in itself.
On the early Galaxys, the pollen filter could be removed without all the dismantling. Then in late 1998, they changed the design of the wiper assembly, the motor blocked the path of the pollen filter, and that made it almost impossible without removing it. You always ended up with shredded hands.
