I went to my local spares place and the cheapie plug(ie not the iridium) on the system is a NGK 2756 BKR6E-11 V-Power Plug, is that the correct substitute?

The Iridium is 6 x the price for a set of 4, I'd rather just change them more often than use the Iridium, changing them also gives me a chance to do other stuff whilst the all the covers are off so changing them more often is not the end of the world.
From what I understand the normal Ngk plugs should get changed every 40,000km?
Are there any drawbacks to using the cheaper sparkplugs?

NKG BKR6E-11 is the plugs recommended for my Mk 1 and the plugs I use.(i-DSi has 8 plugs so you can understand why I don't use Iridium). I just replaced them after 3 years and 32,000 miles (51,000 km). Performed flawlessly.

You need to check thread length, heat range and spark position on the Iridium originals and the non-iridium and see if any differences. NGK spec explanation sheet attached as PDF
Iridium plugs are easier on the coil packs than normal plugs as the finer electrodes need less voltage to make a spark. Other than that if other spec like heat range and spark position are OK go for it.
The 'R' in NGK number means resistor, there is a 5,000 ohm resistor built into plug ( used to be built into plug caps ) for interference suppression - fitting a non resistor plug in place of a resistor one can cause problems, and the other way around as if there is already a 5Kohm in the system and you put in a plug with another 5K built in the spark will be weak.

How did they look after all that mileage, how worn down were the electrodes and how fouled were they?
And did you regap them from 1.1mm to the Honda spec 1.3mm?

They were clean, one had a bit of oiling and none were particularly eroded. The Honda spec for my car is 1.1 mm so they are not regapped. My mechanic (son-in-law) said there was nothing wrong with them and he has been a mechanic for 40 years so knows his spark plugs!

ive got 4 IK20TT denso to fit to the wifes 1.2 VTEC its on 52000mls so far and running and starting fine so at the moment they are on the shelf in the garage ,the spec looks the same as the NGK but i was wondering if i should also fit the standard plugs as she has taken 11yrs to get to 52000 ,

Is the Denso also a budget alternative to an Iridium type plug.
