Title: Rear wheel bearing recommended part
Post by: Crack on April 08, 2020, 04:26:08 PM
Hi All ,
I had a look at previous posts  but couldn't find the correct part number or a recommended supplier for rear wheel bearing / hub for my wife's  2004 jazz se.  It is a GD1 Chassis with with a L13A engine .
ABS Model with rear Disc Brakes .
I have just been sent the wrong parts  from a factor even after giving them the vin number !.
Can anyone please help me locate the correct part ?.
Many thanks
Chris .

Yes, I had to return a pair too. They sent ones for drum brakes, despite insisting they were for disc & ABS, and the listing photo being the correct hub. The VIN doesn't help here, I'm afraid.

You need one that looks like these

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Comline-Rear-Wheel-Bearing-Kit-CHA144/392266462111

I think I bought the comline one in the end

---------------

EDIT: Just checked my ebay records, it was the Comline CHA144 part I bought back in 2018 - definitely the correct part for disc/ABS hub.

Hope this helps.

No, just a cock up on the motor factor databases.

They either list the part number for the drum brake hub, or occasionally list both - even for our 2008.

I fitted this part a few weeks ago to our 2005 Jazz with ABS and disc brakes.

Went straight on and has been fine BUT they sent the wrong size hub nut ( it was too big ) .

I informed them and they refunded £5 and I bought one separately.

What puts me off that one is the dimensions are wrong in the listing, the inner diameter on the bearing should be 28mm, not 30mm. I think the mk2 Jazz (09-15) is 30mm. Either an error in the listing, or it's the wrong part.

The Comline CHA144 is definitely the correct part.

This worked for me.

However the wrong nut was supplied-they sent the correct one though .

Again, if the part supplied was as in the photo, that's for drum brakes with ABS, not disc brakes.

The disc hubs have only two large thumb sized holes, and two threaded holes in the flange for the retaining screws.

It must be the listing incorrect.

2mm is a big difference when sliding the bearing onto the stub axle and would have been instantly noticeable as it would have been very slack.

If the comline is known to be a perfect part and correct in it's listing details, that's what I'll use if I do the other side.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The part supplied fitted my disc brake model, as mentioned there are two holes missing, the supplier quoted me this:

Hi Bob, the bearing should be universal - The manufacturers changed the spec of this bearing so that it fits both the drum and disc models

The drum brake hub will fit with rear discs, but you cannot fit the retaining screws for the disc, as well as some minor dimensional differences.

All the major UK factor suppliers list two different hubs for drum and disc, e.g Firstline FKB1214 & FKB1439, Comline CHA138 & CHA144, etc..

If it fits, and the flange is the for discs, then it'll be right, and the listing will be wrong.

There's no mistaking a mk2 hub, not only will it slop about on the stub axle, the mk1 axle is shorter and you won't get a nut on.
