Title: Windscreen views?
Post by: chrisv on February 18, 2020, 11:46:07 AM
Hi,
Car passed its mot ok but there was a note saying that items removed from windscreen prior to test. One was a toy parrot about 3 inches long stuck at the top right of the screen and would have been hidden by a lowered sun visor, the other was the dashcam mounted high up to the left of the rear view mirror. I did say to the garage you would have to be deformed to have that in your line of sight. As wogan used to say " is it me ?"

Have they said it's in your line of sight?
They are well within their right to remove stuff from the windscreen in order to make sure their is no damage present.
Damage outside of the drivers field of vision can still be advised or failed if the MOT tester deems that the screen has damage compromising is strength.
It is a but of a silly advisory though,
If the tester has had to remove items and their is no damage then why mention it.
It's not uncommon though.

Probably the parrot that upset them. My camera is to the left of the mirror and there has never been an issue for the 3 MOTs other than them unplugging it so it was not recording during the MOT test.

Ditto, I just take the camera off the mount and throw it in the glovebox before taking the car for MOT, the mount is never mentioned.

Top right hand corner of the Jazz windscreen is a 'your next service is due... blah blah' sticker put there by the dealer.

Top right could obscure view of overhead traffic lights?

More likely to be looking for damage to screen though.

To Sparky Paul

I own a honda jazz 2008, the front left quarter window was smashed and I need to fit a replacement (on its way from ebay).
Please tell me if you do this work and how much will it cost me? Just labour please.

If your answer is positive, please tell me where are you based.
