honda jazz 2008 1.4 auto hesitation
« on: February 12, 2017, 04:54:37 PM »
can anyone help with this problem.
i have a honda jazz  2008 1.4 auto and it  keeps cutting out for a split second...i have read about this problem on here but no solutions.
i have taken it to my local garage and had the usual plug in test which
drew a blank....no fault codes at all.
can anyone suggest what might be  the problem.

Not sure where to answer you, but if we stick in this new thread it might help.

Cars with an electronic throttle body 2004+ can have issues with an intermittent wiring fault.  It's usually the 2004/5 cars but it could be later ones as well.  The power to the throttle position sensor is lost due to a worn wire in the conduit, it's quite intermittent as the break is not obvious and usually occurs at a 90 bend in the cables - a visual inspection looks fine, the insulation is intact but the internal wire has parted.  Tiny movements will affect it as it regains/loses contact.

It may be worth trying this test on the car:  have an assistant hold the revs at say 2000rpm, then wiggle the cable that leads from the bottom of the throttle body towards the bulkhead, the break can occur where the small conduit joins the main bundle.  It's usually the green/yellow wire.  If no assistant is available then you can measure the voltage between pins 1 & 2 with the engine off, connector unplugged and the key at IG(II), there should be a constant 5v while the cable is wiggled.

I have had the same problems with my 2007 auto Jazz it's the starter clutch that's the problem there was a recall on them years ago the best thing to do is take it for transmission oil change it will need to be flushed then filled up again it costs about £150 at a Honda dealer which isn't to bad because the oil is expensive and you know it will be the right oil this usually cures it for a bit but it will come back it did with mine Honda say it should be changed every 2 years some people have tried an additive which seems to work but I haven't tried it. Mine only does when you set off for a split second hope this helps

In the engine bay, from the bottom of the throttle heading towards the passenger footwell; the connector is plugged into the bottom of the throttle body.  (The connector on the top is for the Idle Air Control valve).

The throttle body, as pictured above circled in red between the air box and the cylinder head; the throttle control & monitoring wire is the one plugged in to the lower part of it, also circled in red.  Not the pedal.

My 2006 auto jazz (fit) is having this exact problem! Please tell me you found the problem and solution as it is driving me crazy and the mechanic hasn't been able to ID the problem.
