First MoT
« on: August 06, 2014, 10:21:36 AM »
My hybrid Jazz, had its first mot on Monday, and with 113,000 miles on the clock sailed through with no advisories.

It also ahd the 112500 service at the same time. Upon collection one of the sales "executives" guys asked if I was considering changing the car. I asked him what was its value as a trade-in, he estimated in the region of £6000. So to buy a new one I would have to pay £11,000 extra ! Or buy an older car for £4-5,000 to have a lower mileage 3 year old car ! Whats the point in a years time that will be a high mileage car too, so I might as well run this one in to the ground, which the sales guy admitted will be a while, as "these engines go on for ever". We will see.

It's very encouraging to read your post, I wanted reliability and economy and you've done ten years of my motoring. I'm totally loving my Jazz Hybrid after doing the first 4000kms. It's an experience greater than the sum of its parts.

And I thought my 1999 Toyota Yaris 1.0 getting to 141,000 miles was incredible  :o
you have done more than that in your Jazz 11 years earlier!!!
*speechless*

ps. my friend had a similar 1.0 Yaris and he passed 200,000 miles before the head gasket went...

Ozzie your experiance with the high mleage Jazz just confirms how by key having a vehicle running well can be greatly helped by using it engine oil & water warmed up etc.
Most of the problems I deal with are with low mileage short running town cars, the worst being classic cars used for 1 or 2 trips a yewar. Be happy and use your car for enjoyment and business.
As for buying anewer model whay bother when you would be throwing £££'s down the grid in depreciation.
Loooking forward to your 3rd MOT pass!

cheshire oaks honda completed our 1st mot as we had it included in the purchase price,
it passed but on the health report it stated we needed new rear wiper blade,we bought a new blade
only to find later on they had given kath the report for another jazz and ours didnt need any work completing.
again incompetance from cheshire oaks honda
i am starting to regret buying into the  honda brand,as incompetance seems to thrive at my dealership

You regret buying a reliable car that passed its first MOT without advisories because the dealership gave you the wrong report and had to buy a £20 wiper blade that you didn't need?

Okay I have read your other posts and seems your car is having some issues and the dealerships are not helping.. If you don't mind traveling a bit, may I suggest going to Honda Holdcroft in Stoke? (no relation to the other holdcroft) they seem to have the best Honda techs and quite a few of my friends travel 100 miles to get there.

THIRD MOT PASSED -  194,961 miles - 3 Advisories, all were kind of known to me, front tyres are at 3mm tread, and front brake pads (both sides) were wearing a bit low.

Brill result for mileage, I would have hoped Honda PressOffice would be offering you a new Jazz free to be able to use your Jazz run around UK dealers as a news story to promote the brand etc....

Just a way to go, but it looks like I will be back on the road again soon, so the mileage will start going up again.
