It’s good to know that my 22 registered car will be covered, but what are the newest cars affected?
Even if this issue starts after a brake fluid change, it is still a manufacturing defect.

Things I could do without? Almost ever "extra" included in modern cars, specifically (but not limited to):-
Privacy glass (makes the rear view very dim)
Heated seats/wheel
Most "driver aids" especially lane departure warning and the like. If you NEED aids like this then you should consider if you are concentrating enough on your driving.
Pseudo buttons (impossible to use without taking your eyes off of the road)
Mobile phone integration (again, you should be driving not holding a potentially stressful conversation)
I could go on, but I'll shut up before you realise what an old fart I really am.

« Last post by 5thcivic on April 22, 2024, 05:03:10 PM »I used option connectors on two of the Civics because they were easily available courtesy of the forum members, but on the Jazz with 4 USBs available there is no point to the 12V socket so just used that. I installed just like Nicksey's pics, virtually no wires visible, even for the rear camera, my 12V adapter just has a side cable exit on the passenger side tucked away, and a pass through USB power at the rear, so now three USBs at the front.

As I reported before the Forum went down last week, Honda are covering all of mine and I have that verbally and in writing. However the delivery date of the part, according to the dealer, has been put back at least another week which is not ideal. I will contact DVSA again to see if they have had a reply from Honda concerning the issue and whether there will be a recall which should make it easier for everyone else who have had to pay, or are currently negotiating or are going to experience this problem in the future in or out of the manufacture's original or extended warranty. Even though some garages may be reporting just a few examples, my dealer is still of the opinion that the numbers could easily run into hundreds and has already been said, we are just a small proportion of Honda owners discussing it on this forum.

Given the ever increasing complexity of cars manufucters must realise owners wont tolerate crazy unexpected awesome bills for parts that should last the majority of a cars normal life . Honda are falling behind rapidly as the likes of Kia are offering hybrid tech with 7 year 100k warrantry supported by enthusiatic dealers . And its not down to how much you spend as our local dacia dealer gives great customer care according to neighbours driving their cars .
The Dacia dealer was my Renault dealer, and yes they were very good.

Car breakers may give a good price on plastic parts that would otherwise go into the crusher or even cost them money to recycle.
If you cant find a yard that is breaking that model google' used car parts finder.' You will find several sites where you enter the parts you need (part number and maybe a description and photos,) .Car dismantlers ,possibly several, will contact you through the site with their offer price including postage. - a bit like being sent personalised ebay listings. I was able to pay using the sites own secure payment system.I cant remember which site i used.
