Gearbox/Transmission Specialist Near Reading, Berkshire
« on: November 19, 2023, 04:14:11 PM »
Hello,

I am suffering the known gearbox issues with my 2004 1.4 Jazz.

Issue 1:  Noisy in neutral with clutch released...quiet when depressed.  Known to be input shaft bearing.
Issue 2:  Noisy (clicking/tapping) when in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd under load (4th and 5th seem to be ok).  I'm not sure if this is also a symptom of the input shaft bearing, another bearing, or something else.  Any ideas or confirmation of this issue?

In both cases, I'm looking for a gearbox specialist in/around Reading.  I did contact one place, however, they quoted £1300 + VAT.  I'm hoping to get closer to £400 or so as I know that's what some of you were able to manage.

Any personal recommendations for a Gearbox/Transmission specialist in/around Reading would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
JT

Try to contact @Jocko of this parish as he had the issues and had it fixed for £350 ish....he was up near Glasgow though and so might be that you and the missus book into a hotel and have a day away.....as a treat to her of course!
