Title: Latest funsies
Post by: harry22673 on July 27, 2015, 10:55:28 PM
So since the last time I posted something I've gone and got a nice red mugen oil cap
Painted a few bits and bobs
Got this HUD app
And got some orange tape

Painting is done with these yellow paint pen things
And of course I've been keeping up my classic yellow Dunlop bit on the tyres

Tape has invaded the car and is also on the back and wheels and everywhere

The HUD app I found was annoying in the end as the novelty wore off

EBay for £1.95

Well it was when I got it last month
If you say you had issues with it as well such as the tape not sticking which it might not at first
They'll send you a new one

I can safely say that waiting for my reservoir socks is actually killing me
And some mirror things that were cheap and I thought would look good

My socks arrived
Just add a splash of colour and a bit more mugen
Also got my led sidelights
Kind of dim so might go for these 68 led ones instead

Some orange stripes have been added so I'll see how they look in different light
Might take a bit of getting used to and will have to add to the look before it just looks silly

At the moment I'm going through a phase of wanting to change all the bulbs to LEDs
So have done just that with the interior bulbs
The front two pushy bits use a 31mm festoon bulb and the normal light in the centre uses the 501 bulb which is the same as the side lights
Just the one blue bulb lights everything up nicely but I'm going to do the front lights as white and the centre one as blue so when doors are opened the blue comes on

Changed the front two bulbs to a white and the rear to a blue so I get a nice blue glow when I open the door

New rally style mudflaps and door lights
Mudflaps are universal and fit quite well
Still got to put the fronts on but I had an issue where the chrome bit was falling off so I'm not going to put the faulty ones on

The lights are very bright and work even when there is a bit of sun left

They were an eBay job
They are double sided taped to the door and a magnet has to sit in a position so that the light goes off when the door is shut

They do
You'll have to find the best place along there though as the magnet has to stick out a bit

well what's the running tally?

I mean it looks great generally!

I am going to get the Honda projectors! Apart from anything it is practical here in the country because you do go where there are no street lights - and dead-flash!

I don't have the same trust in Honda paint work so I would not put the tape on as all I would end up doing is buggering it up with wonky stripes!

But you have found some great ideas - I genuinely enjoy your updates

Those Honda lights are £4.59 I think
I put a link up for someone else
The total cost is really low as its all eBay
My led lights are about 99p each
Tyre pen is £1.80 per pen
The most expensive thing I've bought is the 4 mudflaps for £19

Good to hear people like all this orange and random bits

Today was the most involved change
Went and wrapped my mirrors in orange
Not feeling it works with the red mudflaps and even the very red rear lights so will probably gets those greyed out slightly
But the wrapping process was good fun and didn't actually take that long

Still not run out of vinyl yet and went and did the front and rear badges
Had issues with the edges so took them off in the end but after seeing what they look like I'll definitely spray them at some point

Also went and wrapped the rams that hold the bootlid

Hi How did you fit the mud flaps on the rear ?
John
There are 3 screws on each that I had to screw into the side where the plastic from rear bumper and the front wings rolls round to around the wheel
On the rear ones as well there is a clip for attaching the bumper and I used that for the mudflaps so there was a large hole added to the mudflaps

This isn't the same seller that i got them from and mine were packaged still but they are the same
Only problem is that the chrome is held on with rivets and sometimes the rivets don't line up properly and then when they are hammered in the rivet breaks
I now have a bit of chrome that dangles

I have the standard exhaust but with a chrome bit on the end
I stupidly cut the end of it off where it curves down and regret doing that as I found there were tips that were designed for exhausts that curve down at the end

New bulbs for the front after my led ones didn't work and I can't be bothered with the kit
These are xenon ones but not quite those hids
Everything is much whiter and slightly brighter so I'm getting ready for my yellow headlight film that I am yet to order
So below is a comparison of both where the new bulb is on the left and another of how they look with both in
The picture with the one gate is the new bulb which has got a slightly larger and brighter glow
I measured how far the car was from the gate so this is all accurate and scientific as it goes
Since I took the other picture the gate fell down in the crazy winds we have.....

New reverse lights arrived
Of course they're LEDs to go with everything else so far
Looking at them in the day they're much brighter and whiter than the standard bulbs
And at night having the rear all in LEDs looks a lot more premium

I think thats a great idea. The vanity glass makes night time reversing a lot darker so the more reversing light the better.

you cannot have red light at the front of the car the only permissible colours are white & amber.

100% correct - But I do see lots of vehicles driving around with blue sidelights (very, very blue not just a tinge of blue) they must know blue is only supposed to be used on emergency vehicles.

The sidelights are a funny one
They must be yellow or white as with the main beam
But police never pick up on it
And that would instantly fail an mot
However blue can be used in standalone bits but as long as it doesn't flash

If you google 'resize photos' youll be able to reduce the picture files and then youll be able to post them on here

you can also paste photos into MSword document and 'save as'  PDF which reduces file size a lot

Why didn't you resize the photos in Photoshop? After resizing you can sharpen a bit and then saving. If you want to keep the original big photos save them with another filename.

HI, Bill here from NZ. I bought a set of S/S Sill plates from our TradeMe site in NZ (like Ebay). Identical to genuine Honda. Shaped to suit openings, and have LEDs in them. Yet to connect to wiring. Waiting for a workshop manual from Haynes to become available. Or I may get brave and dismantle the pillars and connect up to door switches. :o

Not much has happened recently
Have a new job in the same company but have insurance and tax to think about

Most recent things are a new mugen oil cap to tie in with the colouring of orange
Although it does look slightly more golden than orange  but hey

Had some bumper protectors arrive but couldn't decide where to put them
Gone with the lower option now as they sit better on the bumper and am debating having them sprayed

My led strips that I will use for DRLs have arrived but I have no idea where to start as the last thing I connected to the battery didn't work
And I have to get the wiring into the engine bay somehow

I would have gone for the illuminated ones but it needs a lot more work that I don't feel I have the time for if something goes wrong
Would've loved that sort of thing though

So today I had a go at putting my led strips on for DRLs
They worked on their own which is good
Then I added a switch and they still worked
Then I added more wire to get the switch near the steering wheel and they then didn't work
So I'll have to rethink
An option is connect them to the eps fuse right on top of the battery so that way the lights automatically come on when the engine starts

That style is good for being hard wired in to the dome light and cut into the door

Got some new soles for my shoes
No expense spared
Really needed to get rid of the barely legal tread on two and the slow puncture on another that did get a bit quicker needing to be pumped up every 4 days
But steering feels so light and at 70 there is substantially less noise than with the Dunlop's

Debadged the boot and looks just as good as I thought
Very subtle

Got some orange spray on the way for my mudflaps to bring them in line with everything
Will also have to get some lacquer and then I'm redoing the aluminium at the bottom of them as the original lot is hanging off

I am always wondering why people debadge their car and leave the advertisement at the license plate on??? That's one of the first things i removed. ;)
Looking forward to your orange mudflaps! :)

So first thing that was sorted was the mudflaps
Had them off and cleaned them up
Sprayed them orange then got some aluminium strips diyed
Went for a brushed finish then put on some lacquer to stop any deterioration

Next thing was spraying the glovebox with this plastidip spray
Very good stuff as it can easily be pulled off but its expensive so I am reluctant to pull off
Haven't got a picture of the glovebox yet as there was an area that came out blotchy and I'm still in the process of sanding down and respraying that particular area to smooth it off but its difficult to sand

Most recent addition now was the DRLs
The proudest moment yet as I was really stuck as to how I'd get the wiring in places and all this
In the end I've put them on a switch and the wires for that switch go down the side of the drivers side
I had to get a bamboo stick with taped to the end to get it through
The led strips only worked in parallel with each other
Next step is to get some 3M tape and neaten up the sticking to the grille

The DRLs on a switch are working well
Had to move them up to just below the bonnet as they kept coming unstuck so are now just straight instead of curved

Also I might try and get another pair of the led strips to try and make them work as they would look nice having the straights and the
That other picture was just a mock up after doing that othat one side and copying it over

And ive also had to lose the led sidelights at the minute as the passenger side bulb just decided to die
The smds were quite wobbly in the casing so over time they've just fallen apart
Only lasted about 10 months so don't buy cheap smd based LEDs on eBay
So I've got some cree led bulbs on order and in the meantime I've gone back to the standard bulbs

Not been on here in a while as I had hit instagram more and honda karma but done a few things in the mean time

Recently have resprayed some of the interior with a peelable orange spray
So the glovebox is a neater orange but along with the stereo and air vents
Pictures will follow

For a while had some mini spotlights as DRLs and they worked rather well
Until water got into them and they started flashing
Got my eye on some which will fit perfectly into the gap below the number plate on the lower grille

Yellow headlight bulbs came and went

Made up some headrest covers in an orange fabric from where I used to work

Orange caliper paint has arrived so that will go on soon when I have chance to get the wheels off and have a good clean

Had numerous sidelight bulbs in and out ranging from cree to high numbers of smds
currently got some with less smds as I feel they will actually last but Im now at halfords and have my eye on some of their brightest options

Mugen pedals have come in and theyre still in so no problems there

Another recent one is the change to flat blades
Look neater and anything was better than how bad mine got beofre they were changed but we shall see if these last for just as long

Paint your wiper arms, like me, see attached pic, also custom painted grill, subtle but distinctive.

Just noticed the wording
The pedals are still in, it was just the bolt covers that are gone

I do like that
I have been thinking of going PMM on them
i saw someone else online who has done the rear in blue and when bodymatched they do look quite good

It's all only temporary and can be taken off easily if needed

And why would I sell it
Perfectly fine at doing what it does

Some of us like to make our cars more unique- at the end of the day, as long as we like it, it doesn't matter what anyone else think, plus its not harming anyone either  :-*

Recent things are just the sun strip and the blue strips wired in to a connector on the fuse box. This is for the door sensors rather than the dome light as when the dome light is not switched to come on them these still come on.
Got to get a relay then I can get these side lighting strips which will be used as DRLs in place which I aim to put on the top surface of the headlight.

Your car looks great! Love the yellow Vtec inside the engine! And that dash! Wow! Can you do my in my blue? Is it easy to take off the stereo and glove box lid? Your car looks amazing!
