iPhone connection

Hi all I've been successfully using my iPhone 4s to play music through my stereo via the port in front of the gear lever using the cable I bought.  That was till Sunday now it's saying its unsupported.  I've tried my wife's phone and another  cable to rule out the obvious.

The only change is that we stopped at a cottage with a Bose wireless speaker which I blue toothed too that worked ok but now it won't work in the car. I can use the aux cable to play music ok.

Can anyone help?
