Rear Seat plastic 'tray' removal
« on: March 27, 2018, 04:51:48 PM »
I have a 2009 iShift and have been trying to figure out how to remove the plastic 'tray' that covers the underside.

Un bolting the 'bag loops' and pulling the tray hard doesn't seem to work. Am I not pulling hard enough, or just doing it totally wrong.

Sorry to be obtuse of which tray do you refer?

The plastic 'trays' arrowed under the seat. (I haven't a clue what to call them )

the only removable plastic tray I know about is the one on the passenger side rear seat (the 60% of the 60/40 split )  and covers a little 'secret' cubbyhole that will house something the size of owners handbook.  You twist the two knobs till the flat part is in line with edge of cover and the lid can be pulled open.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Yup, I have got that part sorted, what I am trying to do is remove the whole under tray from the seat.

It went on, so it must be able to come off.

... but how?

I am going to make some covers for the seat and would much prefer then to be 'fitted' rather than just slung over.

Removing the bottom would allow me to tuck things in far more easily

Mr Onion, I had a rattle and it appeared to come from the N/S/R seat hinge. I looked it all up in the online manual and quite honestly balked at the removal of the tray etc. I managed to get the hinge out without removing this cover.
Can you not find a way around removal of the cover as there is every chance not only might you break the very fragile clips that Honda use moulded into everything but you will not get the cover  back as they did in the factory.PS the seats are VERY heavy and 'B' awkward to move around, which you will have to do to remove anything underneath.
Good luck and reading the online manual will give you all the info you need

Thanks for that, I'm glad I didn't pull hard (as the temptation was)

I'll move onto plan 'D' and have a rethink
